This.

It's not normal that no one in Montreal was even worried about Marner all series long.

He looked completely crushed by the pressure. Making nervous plays and bad decisions.

- Scabeh

No excuses for AM but it's a fact that he was successfully swarmed all series. It was the right plan. They had Daneault plus a Dman focused on him once he crossed the red line. Take him out and the others cannot get 'er done ..especially once JT was out.

It's just weird how so many fans from teams that stink are in here trolling a team that just finished a 7-game series.

It's one thing to talk smack when your team is playing that team.

It's another thing when your team is golfing and never participated. It's ... pathetic.

- Nasty_Duck

you must be new to sports. Razzing leaf fans for another early playoff exit is in itself a national pastime. No need to be sour about it. Nothing new. Just have fun with it.

This is Christmas morning for Buffalo and Vancouver fans, the (frank) else do they have going for them? Just be happy we can still make a positive difference in their pathetic lives. 👍

it took a Habs playoffs win over the Leafs to bring back Asp from the other world...

its going to be genuinely interesting to see how Marner responds to the media and social media pressure that will correctly and appropriately be directed at him....

all this nonsense of attacking Matthews is just that nonsense... while he did not score he wasn't or shouldn't be considered as underachieving to the degree that Marner did. Literally every play where the puck go to Marner offensively died on his stick or he just turned it over... this was a repeated/consistent theme visible most notably on the powerplay.

Keefe's inability or lack of willingness to change the powerplay in any significant way during the last two months of the regular season should have been a clear indicator that he isn't capable of managing those two.

What's the path to correcting this?

Admission on the part of Dubas that the Marner contract was a mistake - and addressing that. Attempting to get some value out of a Marner trade is their only meaningful option... standing pat with the "Core 4" is going to see an absolute repeat in 2022

- BorjeFan4Ever

I think the Leafs stand pat with what they got for the next few years.
Then if the results are the same, a new GM break things up

Too easy.

How many goals did the best goal scorer in the league get? Neither one of them got the job done. Matthews may have been better but you don’t get away with saying one guy lost this series.

With JT and Muzzin down, it came to two guys to make the difference and they didn’t.

I do think Marner needs to go because somebody does and you’re sure as hell not moving Matthews unless your Mac which kind of proves the point.

I see one player that looked completely lost.

It wasn’t close when you analyze the twos play.

Neither got it done yes, but how does a star look completely lost and making brain fart after brain fart?

tbh I couldn't care less. But thank you for your thoughts. Vancouver, Montreal and Edmonton sure look like they're having a great time.

But let's be honest. Most Leaf fans would feel the same about Buffalo if the turns were tabled. Yay rivalries.

They dogged Matthews all series. Marner dogged himself.

Danault and Weber did a good job with Matthews, the guy a killer if you don't go at him hard.

We did ok last season. This season was horrendous though.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret, winning a few playoff rounds is fun but it does create a false sense of success that can make later failure that much more difficult to process.

He was blanketed most of the time. It's up to his linemates to make them pay and it didn't happen.

That's why you need to enjoy success while it comes.

Habs are going to round 2. Hell they might make it to round 3.

It's still going to be one hell of a challenge to even make the playoffs next season.

Would rather go hard on Hamilton in the open market, don't have to give up an asset to do that. Trade Marner for a winger and goalie or something.

Trade him to Florida for Huberdeau and Weegar. Sign Driedger. Trade Rielly for whatever the (frank) else.

Brodie/Hamilton
Muzzin/Weegar
Sandin/Bogosian

I'll be here all weekend, don't forget to try the fish.

I didn’t say they were the same. Neither got the job done. If someone told you that Matthews was going to score one goal in the series, would you feel confident?

This team needs a Masai Ujiri moment. Someone in management who can man up and admit that this team's core cannot win. The verdict is more than in on that. And then, go out and make the right moves. If they don't believe Dubas can do it, he should be gone.
