Rielly was good in this series. He stays IMO. I was so so about him before but he and Brodie were miles ahead of everybody else.
- Canada Cup

Hmmm, I don't think Rielly was good as much as he was good compared to his poor performance in the regular season.

Not enough for me. Coupled with it being the last year of his contract and needing to get the stench off of this core, he needs to go. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I blame Dubas for caving to the mouth-breathers in the media and the fan base begging for more "grit" when the clear issue was that nobody on the team could (frank)ing score when the top guys no-showed.
- BINGO!

Not his fault, Tavares got hurt or that Matthews and Marner forgot how to score.

Can't blame Dubas, when your best forwards in the playoffs are Nylander and Jason Spezza

Nah the crazy part is I really liked this team and judging by most of the comments on here from 4 days ago everyone on here thought the same.

They seemed built for success, they were good defensively, could score and had a hot goalie.

They lost when it counts again, that's all there is to it. A shakeup in the top end of the lineup is needed.

Why, are people being mean to us?
- Canada Cup

I think that it's such old hat people are beginning to feel sorry for most of you. Of course there's a few fans that deserve it but that can be said of any fanbase.

I don't like to troll. But this is for Mike for his comment on the buzzcast yesterday. It gave me great pleasure to watch the leafs choke yesterday. I watch the podcast everyday and I am a Pateron. I was very close to ending my subscription yesterday. I already left the leafs convo. Don't make me leave hockeybuzz.

Don’t blame us for Mike. We don’t listen to or read him.

With a flat cap, where are you dumping $16M without taking any significant cap back, and what return do you expect?
- jmatchett383

Taking significant cap back is just fine, they don't need to dump 16 million outright. That would put them 16 million below the cap. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I want them to sit in the press box when they play like sh!t.

Apparently that wasn't an option with Thornton.

- Leafs43

Sounds like your expectations were a little high.

He had more goals than Marner and the same amount as Matthews.

You are pointing fingers at the wrong guys.

They signed him to be a bottom 6 player and provide a presence.

for 700K he did that.

I don't know what people want from their bottom of the lineup players but its time to lower expectations for them.

Santo this comment proves that you have literally NO IDEA about what it takes to actually win a Stanley Cup. None.

Replace him with who? Joe only averaged 10 minutes a game.. We didn't lose because of Thornton

That first goal last night from that hot goalie was very weak and really hurt.

Thornton was complete and total dead weight, on top of which he cost the leafs multiple times. Spezza banking a puck off of his dead ass doesn't absolve him. Of anything.

You need players who can move in the playoffs, not a tree with skates tied to it that you need to push around with a stick.

There have been many of us here who have been advocating for this for some time now. Suddenly we're right?? Because you now say so???

There were better options like Perry who I always wanted them to sign.

agreed. Its gotta be a "painful" one but its for the good and success of the team. This has not worked out....Mind you Tampa kinda went through this to a lesser extent. First round exits before they ultimately won. And Stamkos was out for it.

No excuses, but the impact of JT not being there is one we cant deny either. People call him the bigger choker, but I dunno.

I cant think of a trade that didnt set a franchise back where a star was traded for a package of lesser pieces.

Think this needs to be a 1 for 1.

I think so too, there were high expectations this year and they failed.

They can't just trim the edges of the roster and hope things get better.

He should have averaged 0 minutes a game.

I can go through the leafs depth chart and find players who could have contributed more and had less of a negative impact and pretty much get to Marincin before I find one that's debatable.

Agreed, its always harder to chase the game like that, and that penatly was garbage to give them a golden opportunity for the dagger goal...

With all that being said, had the Leafs not played like absolute trash they would have won regardless...they lost to an inferior team...it is what it is.....choke city.

I mean Leaf fans always overreact...Tampa and WSH went through similar staged with their core.

Ours seems worse though that's for sure, and Leaf fans dont have the same patients.

They dogged Matthews all series. Marner dogged himself.
- golfingsince

You wonder about the proclaimed strategy of the Habs simply letting Marner do his thing.
Marners puck possession skills worked as though he were a Hab. Habs were safe as long as Mitch had the puck. Just make sure he can’t get it to 34. Mitch won’t shoot, wait him out and he’ll lose patience and try something Mitchy and the Habs will get the puck back. If he does shoot, Price just had to make sure he treated Marners shot as an off speed pitch.

I thought Campbell played great that series and was one of the better Leaf players on the ice last night.
