Marner for Eichel should be explored because you’re going to need a new 1C when Matthews walks for nothing in FA and JT is washed

He is mad because Nylander played so well in that series
- Santo_44

But Nylander only produces playing with an elite centre like Matthews, Tavares or…Kerfoot?

it's childish.

I suppose I could keep going on about 8-after-luongo, go start a riot, burn some buildings.

But it's just stupid. Why is it a "national pastime"? What do you get out of it?

- Nasty_Duck

I wasn’t upset when my team lost but now that I read that troll post, I’m upset. That’s the way it works, right?

No one here listens to the podcast.

What was said?

- Leafs43

He said it gave him great pleasure to watch the Bruins beat the Islanders in game one. I am no longer on you tube so this is my only means to say something. I dont like to do this. This is the first time I ever did this and I am sorry

have you never watched the leafs pp?
rest of the team basically dish the puck to marner and expect him to do some magic.
obviously he is not the one to have a lot of shots on the pp, since he is expected to set up other players to score.
in general, marner gets a lot of criticism for taking risks, while other players basically dont want to / are not able to take any initiative, and let marner by himself trying to make something of the play.
he was bad this series. other series not so much -- he was lined up against top lines while matthews and nylander were playing 2nd/3rd lines.

leafs fans truly dont deserve good players like marner - i would applaud him if he decided to join a team with fans that actually understand hockey and win a few Stanley Cups there.

- MaximusAurelius

So, you are the only Leafs "fan" on here defending Marner.

My co-workers who are Leafs fans, my co-workers who aren't Leafs fans, my friends who aren't Leafs fans, everyone online and the media are all blaming this loss pretty much squarely on him.

Yet here you are. Talking out of your ass about him.

Are you serious?

My Habs fan friends are absolutely (frank)ing loving Marner. I got an oiler fan friend that crawled out of his depression purely to poop on what a plug Marner is.

The whole world sees it, but Max is still pissed auston smiled, Martina sings the national anthem before games, keefe/Dubas were happy when they won a Calder... And all the rest of his garbage. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's on the players, but the coach holds responsibility as well for refusing to make a shift to give the players a better chance to get themselves out. The writing was on the wall for 4 games if not the entire series with Matthews and Marner. Keefe hung it right around their necks and said figure it out or wear the horns.

But yes, it's back on Dubas now.

- joel878

Wait, you're blaming Keefe for trying to run with the horses that brought him there? Leafs needed their best players to be their best players and they weren't.

Nylander, Kerfoot and Spezza were our best forwards, that is not all on Keefe... Sure, he could have given more ice time to Nylander throughout the series, but in game 7, he had Willy with Matthews and Marner..

They do need to wear it...

bingo!

Marner is going to have one heck of an unpleasant time living the GTA getting paid what he does and playing how he did - any of the post-game nonsense commentary is intended to convey they "don't understand how it happened"...

that's simply not good enough.

I don't disagree with you, I just don't care about the regular season anymore. We had a team smoke their division and fall on their faces, we had another team loaded full of rookies limp into the post season and give Washington a scare on their way to the cup. It means nothing...

The playoff editions of this team (to me) are proving that being corralled into dependence on the teams best players is not working... Not even close. The bargain bin did it when you look at Spezza, how'd it payoff outside of the top 6 everywhere else?

Team needs more balance in my opinion. If for nothing else because the alternative has been beat to death and its not working.

- joel878

Or, this core is wrong. Look at the Av’s or TBL or others where the stars are playing like stars. The balance part without JT and by getting nothing from Foligno (he must have still be hurting).

Our defence was good. Nylander was good. Kerfoot was good. Others (Mik, Engvall)Brodie their bits which weren’t all that much.

marner will stay on the team. dubas will bring in depth pieces like Janmark,Soderberg, etc. and roll with the same core group again.

I never did and never will get over the idea that as a 21 year old kid playing for your championship starved hometown team, you can be like 50 million dollars... Not even close to enough money for me. 60? Try again or I'm not playing.

But auston smiled so he's the one with a character issue. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Matthews should have cried and needed to be consoled by Nylander, maybe then Max would like him?

It's brutal.

Max - how about this?

Have a look at Matthews playoff numbers without Marner on his line, now have a look at his playoff numbers with Marner on his line.

.76 ppg without Marner
.71 ppg with Marner

Matthews has more playoff points with Connor Brown and Zach Hyman on his wing than he does with Marner. I thought Marner's specialty was making those around him better?

No I don't put it all on Keefe, but he absolutely has a responsibility.

He made a change in the last period of game 7 that needed to occur by game 3 or 4 when it was clear to the entire hockey world that riding his top dogs wasn't paying off.

As a coach, you don't get to embrace their struggle as ride or die... And then not shoulder some of the blame when it ends in die.

Soy boy Dubas has to go.
No jobs are safe after a mess like this series.
Unacceptable...
