Imagine having a GM for your NHL franchise that thinks that it is better to trade a 1st and 2 fourth rounders for a washed up over the hill injured 3rd liner over a 2nd round pick and a decent prospect for a former Hart trophy winning 1st line winger that is 4 years younger.

Imagine fans still defending that GM as 'best in NHL ever'...

Imagining being a franchise that has failed and desperately wants success and hiring an inexperienced child for your GM. What could go wrong?

I would keep Matthews, Brodie, Sandin, Spezza and maybe Bogosian
after that I would listen to all offers on the rest. Not saying to trade them all just that would not be untouchables for me. Just listen to offers and make a sound decision from there. Spezza and Bogosian just because of their salary.

We had a good roster with lots of depth

Coaches need to accept some of the blame

He gets the (frank) outta here.

Something good. He’s not a completely trash player.

- Steven_Seagull

I understand that he's not complete trash but do you accept picks/prospects and a mediocre top 6 with reduced cap type of deal?

That cap hit is daunting.

Why is that outrageous?

I know the sky is falling, but Marner has tremendous value and there will be lots of takers. We need a different type of player, like a Tkachuk or a d-man.

The + is more for cap reasons...?

- Hockey_Reverend

Tkachuk + Lucic for Marner

Calgary retains 2 million on Lucic, Leafs retain 2 million on Marner

Which side says no?

Agreed, you need to consider all options after this tire fire.

and yet the fanboys grouping up were wrong again, and i was right at start of the season that nothing really had changed.
results count - nothing else matter.

there are 20+ GMs that would have done a much better job with all the resources and deep pockets leafs org has.

but kyle was over the top with an AHL championship he basically bought

Leafs just have to keep up the tenacity and desire as an organization and they’ll get that 2nd round series eventually

Calgary says no. They have Jenny Hockey and he is almost the exact same player as Marner.

That ain’t happening... Something good. Again, the sky is falling right now but Marner is a 90 point player. How many of those guys become available? Tkachuck is what, a 30 goal -70 point guy? But he is physical. Throw in a 1st and Ill take old Milan!

Someone who is reliably wrong as much as you should never ever ever say the words 'I was right'. You make being wrong a (frank)ing art form.

The Leafiest part was that over Games 5 and 6, they had the better part of a period's worth of sudden death where one shot would end it, and they had Matthews.

Oh well. Go Leafs (frank)in' Go.

Oh, just send anything to get rid of the guy. He’s the only reason they lost and every GM in the league (reading this thread) is bound to see that and refuse to pay much to get the #4 scorer.

90 points in regular season hockey

Which guy is more likely to show up when it matters

Marner or Tkachuk?

[quote=Isles]When it was 3-1 some of you on here were discussing what the order would be when passing around the cup

Pretty sure that was people joking....but ok

- Archaic

Not so sure about that, man. We all have people on our boarda that say cringeworthy stuff but in retrospect, this looked pretty sincere https://www.hockeybuzz.co...?thread_id=172780&page=29

If we are trading Marner you have to look at other teams looking to shake things up:

Buffalo
Calgary
Columbus
Edmonton?
Dallas?
NYR?

Prime examples I think?

I think he's overpaid by 2-3 million but it is what it is. If they deal him they'd better not (frank) it up.

Marner is elite skill, one of the best playmakers and he is only 23. If you think teams would not take him becuase of Toronto playoff collapses I think your wrong. Teams would love to have him in order to make the playoffs...

Yeah...just go already. Git, gwon, skidaddle, don’t let the door hit you on the way out, here’s your hat - what’s your hurry, come back when you can’t stay so long, you all should be on stage - there’s one leaving in ten minutes, don’t worry about your stuff, we’ll get it to you soon.
