and yet the fanboys grouping up were wrong again, and i was right at start of the season that nothing really had changed.
results count - nothing else matter.
there are 20+ GMs that would have done a much better job with all the resources and deep pockets leafs org has.
but kyle was over the top with an AHL championship he basically bought

Not so sure about that, man. We all have people on our boarda that say cringeworthy stuff but in retrospect, this looked pewtty sincere https://www.hockeybuzz.co...?thread_id=172780&page=29 - keaner17
Youre right it does look that way, not sure it was, but I dont think any true Leaf fan ever believed they were winning the cup....more expected the current outcome then a cup and thats the legit truth.
Also, pretty much only RR on this board says stupid things about the Isles... |

Hintz for Nylander
Joseph Woll will be our starter this year - MynameisJeff
Hintz has proven to be a better player than Nylander this last season - while playing injured.
Say what you want about Woll, but our goaltending hasn't won us a playoffs series yet (and that first goal yesterday night was a a really really bad goal) |

Marner is elite skill, one of the best playmakers and he is only 23. If you think teams would not take him becuase of Toronto playoff collapses I think your wrong. Teams would love to have him in order to make the playoffs... - Hockey_Reverend
Which is the only reason a team like Calgary would entertain trading Tkachuk for him, not at 11 million and not 1 for 1
But Tkachuk's the player the Leafs need, and his type are very hard to come by
It would be Toronto calling Calgary, not the other way around |

I understand that he's not complete trash but do you accept picks/prospects and a mediocre top 6 with reduced cap type of deal?
That cap hit is daunting. - golfingsince
I would take the best deal.
Duchene package would be nice.
Eichel, Jones (with an extension), Werenski, Tkachuk.
Saw a Marner for Byfield+ trade. |

Both absolutely logical reasons to have a 22 year old with a 3.60ish GAA in the (frank)ing AHL play in the NHL.
The (frank) do you even say to this drivel anymore. 🤦🏻‍♂️ |

Okay, you must be right...
If you dont think Marner for Tkachuk would be possible, you are being a homer. Doesn’t mean it would happen, but sure its possible. You dont think Calgary wants to make a change also?
Same with Jones for Marner
Eichel for Marner
List goes on. You add a piece here or there to make the trade happen and dollars match...
Sometimes teams think that a change of scenery is just what a player needs... |

when even you threw in the towel last night, we all knew it was really really over. - MaximusAurelius
There weren't coming back three times in a row in the third period. Really tough one. Very disappointing.
It's an opportunity to practice radical acceptance though, which is a spiritual gift.
I'll be doing zazen down on the shore. |

Kriston Shilton has it right on Leafs lunch. She said this team just likes to skate it around the outside. Montreal knows they will do that and is happy to let them. She said its like they can’t, OR WON’T, take it to the net...

Calgary wants to make changes, sure
But Tkachuk isn't the guy they're going to want to move. He's the guy you build around, because guys like Tkachuk are rare breeds
Gaudreau, Monahan, sure. lots of 1 for 1 possibilities there
If someone wants Tkachuk, they will have to overpay in assets, and that before contract value even becomes part of the equation

I think we all know the solution is to change the goal song. They clearly don't want to hear that poop so they actively avoid going to the scoring areas. - AdamFrench
I’m surprised that Carlton isn’t taking heat. TBH, he to was a no-show. |

BINGO - Hockey_Reverend
Islanders did the same thing to the Penguins
They were the "Perimeter Penguins". Big fancy stats, lots of possession and shots from the outside, always fell victim to the counterpunch from the Islanders
Takes Grit and Skill to score in the playoffs. Skill alone rarely gets it done

Im not please with Marner at all.
But if you believe he is the only reason we lost...you are mistaken.
Through two periods of a game 7 - leafs generated 0 high danger chances.
0
at 24 - Marner has 25pts in 32 games. Not bad, but 18 without a goal. Not good
at 23 - Matthews has 24 pts in 32 games. Not bad. no goals in the past 5 games and only 3 goals in the past 12 games. Not good.
When comes to elimination games, neither has shown up. I think they have 1- 2 pts each in the past 7.
Matthews was absent the past 2 games. Ya great he hit a post.
Both are great in the reg season.
But you cant trade both, but a change needs to be made for sure to this core.
Matthews for McDavid?
Marner for lesser pieces and cap space?
Dunno.
I would tend to keep the scoring center.

took a look, think you might be right
15 playoff games in 5 years, produces about half as much in the post season as reg.
would fit right in

Trading marner for Eichel doesnt provide much cap relief.
Plus marner will be a leaf killer 6 times a year.
It would be really nice if we Konecny.... |
