What adjustments did Keefe make? If something fails over and over, you need to change it - that's on the coach. Did not seem like Keefe made any adjustments to me.
- Nasty_Duck

It just came up on leafs lunch about players repeatedly saying they didn't start on time, and that being a question that has to be asked of your coach and has to have an answer.

It's a valid point, how are you in a situation where your players can look at the media after game 5 and say errrm we didn't start on time, and then come out for game 6 and get smashed for the first 10 minutes of the game, and again talk about starting on time.

I like Keefe as a coach, he strikes me as the doesn't make same mistakes twice coach... But oi, this series is a tough look on him.

Marner to NYR for Laf
- senstroll

Something like that would help the leafs but now the Rags have two players on their roster making a ton of money

Brady has more blocks and hits because his team never has the puck when he's on the ice.

Why would the Rags even entertain it?

Hintz has proven to be a better player than Nylander this last season - while playing injured.

Say what you want about Woll, but our goaltending hasn't won us a playoffs series yet (and that first goal yesterday night was a a really really bad goal)

- MaximusAurelius

How did Hintz play in the playoffs? Why are all the pundits out there screaming about how Nylander was they best forward in the series and is top value for his contract?

Campbell didn't lose us this series. You've already said that - are you contradicting yourself now?

Woll hasn't even started an NHL game? You think he would be better than Campbell in the playoffs?

How about you just admit you're wrong. It happens often enough you should have lots of practice.

Why is that outrageous?

I know the sky is falling, but Marner has tremendous value and there will be lots of takers. We need a different type of player, like a Tkachuk or a d-man.

The + is more for cap reasons...?

- Hockey_Reverend

Marner for Seth Jones and Max Domi?

Trading marner for Eichel doesnt provide much cap relief.
Plus marner will be a leaf killer 6 times a year.

It would be really nice if we Konecny....

- Fakepartofme

He' be on Buff. Would be a long time before he's in a position to kill the Leafs.

Hate the leafs but enjoy watching Marner Mathews and Hyman play. POV though they can still win without Marner
- maximumcarnage

I would entertain try Marner, Liljegren and a pick for Eichel.

That first goal last night from that hot goalie was very weak and really hurt.
- Canada Cup

Then the Leafs were pushing back and a call, that was let go all freaking game to that point gets called... boom 2-0, and its another early summer. Hate blaming the refs but even on the telecast they were surprised and showed an example of something more egregious being let go. A sudden call, against the tone of the calls before that, to a team already down 1, in game 7, is unbelievable.

Toronto sports media always lets these guys off the hook.. can't allow them those weak ass responses....

yes this is on the coach... but I believe it says more about the supposed leaders

yeah, it was a weak goal but it shouldn't have killed the team like it did.
- PatC80

It didn't. They came to life after that and generated a number of good chances, and were snakebit of course. The PP goal killed them. It was a sh1tty first goal. It would be nice to see the Leafs not be missing key pieces and not have a goalie let in a softie in game 7, even though Campbell was definitely not the reason the series was lost.

might be the thing that annoys me the most.

paid an extreme premium for grit, leadership blah blah
had zero effect

- senstroll

Almost bad enough to get him fired IMO. Waste an asset to not address the problem and if you don't see the Matthews/Marner problem by now, you should not be a GM. Matthews playoff numbers are not much better. Over their careers, they are worse. Both of these guys are the problem, not the need for another barely-3rd line grinder with intangibles. Horrible decision by Dubas. Paid huge dollars to guys who had accomplished nothing and then threw away draft picks on a core that has yet to show they could even win a series, nevermind contend for a cup.

The cold harsh reality is that not a whole lot is going to change next year, not until they clean house in the front office and somebody else takes the reigns.

Dubas is too loyal, and he's going to live and die with the horses he's been running with.

Yes, there will be some support guys moved out, and maybe Rielly and Hyman, but outside of that, the players will be largely the same as this year.

Maholtra is likely gone, but Keefe will be back.

playoff hockey is different than reg season and matthews and marner just need time to learn that people are gonna get away with all sorts of BS against them, slashes, interference, etc and they cant carry the puck as much as theyd like

its an experience thing. everyone needs to relax on the trade marner talk

the only part that bothers me about nhl playoffs in general is why bother to call penalties in the regular season when the standard changes in playoffs

might as well just not and then let people kill each other and the teams that built properly and have lots of depth so that if 10 good players get injured the best team with the best farm can have great success!

for the leafs, so many things bother me, I cant wait to have a 2nd team in toronto
