I think it's unlikely they hire experienced NHL executives based on the Aquilini's history. - VanHockeyGuy
Fully agree. Unless Rutherford has gone senile, and then he'll sign, and the Canucks will be worse. |

On the other side he would instantly become the most experienced in hockey op's. As a special consultant his feedback and advice would help the team.

May as well ask your grandma for advice. His last 2 jobs didn’t end well.
Time for him to retire, and move to Florida for the winters. |

Not that I know a lot about him, but he's 72 years old, which lends itself to him being a bit more "old school" in approach.
Someone like Yzerman or Sakic seem to have a better finger on the pulse of what the "modern" NHL is.
Again, I'm just guessing as I haven't done much research into his philosophy or what his role is/could be. Maybe he'd be great? I have no clue. - NewYorkNuck
I wasn't advocating for Rutherford, as I am not interested in him, but was curious what you meant by new age.
I would lump Cam Neely and Don Sweeney at the top of that list of nhl executives who seem to have a very good grasp of today's nhl.
The Bruins did a quick retool on the fly a few seasons back, when they sold some players and had 3 1st round picks, during a season in which they were going to miss the playoffs Now they are right back at the top of the league's top teams.

Could very well be. Is Weisbrod the answer then? I don't see the twins turning this team around during JB's tenure?

Not sure what the answer is but recycling old dudes should be avoided, only have to look as far as Holland in Edmonton. These guys got to learn how to enjoy the last 1/4 of their lives.
Although Lamoriello is sure making that new age GM in Toronto look like a dufus.

Benning is the perfect GM/man in charge, for the next 2 seasons..The 2022 and the 2023 drafts have some high-end kids coming, and we all know Benning is excellent at getting us a top 10 pick. |

They’ll learn under an experienced hockey man in Jim Benning and potentially take on bigger roles in the future |

He’s the best drafting GM this team has had in a very long time. |

I would hope it's more of a collaborative effort, like a proper run organization would do. It's the other management area's he struggle's with still after 7+ years.

LOL Holland has been there not ever two years man give it time. Like the Flames of 2004 and the Nucks of 2011 it takes time to get rid of 9-10 NTC clauses and bad contracts. Like a decade?? lol |

He did the tankathon simulation, Canucks got 1st pick, but Coyotes got second so there was a re-draw, and Canucks ended 9th.
Not sure if that’s actually how it will work, but it was funny. |

Pretty sure they're drawing them separately. |

We're getting 1st overall....
We're then trading it to Columbus with JV and LE for Seth Jones and their 2nd rounder

There are 2 separate draws for the top 2. One for 1stOA, then one for 2nd OA, so no that wouldn't be possible. |

Now that it has been cleared up for me, I am going out on a limb and saying at least 1 of Rangers, Flyers, Devils or Sabres win a draft lottery spot. |

Just did the SIM 10 times and the Nucks had 1OA three times
2OA once but basically stuck at 9-10 lol. I predicted 11 OA so was close |

Forget Seth when Leafs willing to move a top piece to get. So Hamilton UFA bidding will be interesting.
Do Canucks preempt with pre-e-draft trade and sign, so Krak don't take a whack at Ham? - NuckUp
Not a bad idea |

I also did it 10 times today, Rangers and Flyers won a lottery spot twice,Sabres once Hawks twice and of course Arizona 3 times Canucks did win 2OA once.
Canucks were at 11th twice and 10th twice, 9th 5 times.
