I'd like those 3rd wheel slots to be filled by speedy wingers who are good on the forecheck and have enough skill to finish off some plays set up by their more skilled line mates. Basically guys who are considered to be decent 3rd liners. - Nucker101
Motte and Highmore? Damn funny that also describes JV. |

Motte and Highmore? - NuckUp
Well see what Benning thinks. Motte is great. If Benning trusts Highmore then he's worthy of a shot in that role too. |

Anyone who Benning likes. Not sure why speed is considered to be synonymous with "small", I see plenty of speedy wingers with size playing in the playoffs right now. They don't have to have blazing speed, just enough to get in on the forecheck.
Also, people get too caught up in height. A 6 foot 205 LB forward hits harder than a 6'2" 190 lb forward. - Nucker101
So, speedy like Virtanen? |

LOL if you stop trolling JB you'd realize Green made that call on how he deployed those two. |

Sure, but the problem with Virtanen is his commitment. If he was as hard of a worker as Motte, he'd be very effective. |

I believe this year was a planned tank by Murray, he knows how to win but right now he's rebuilding. Makes you wonder if maybe ownership is forcing this move on him. - Nucker101
It's like doing math, you can do long division or use a calculator, both can come up with the right answer but one you will get faster and be able to use it quicker and you can do more.
OR like digging a hole. You can use a shovel, feel like you worked hard or you can use that back hoe and get on to what you were really digging that hole for. |

I tried to delete Shuswap entirely, but I don't have the microchip fully gelled together yet. |

Plus JB never wanted Virtanen, Francesco told him to take Jake.

19 year old Tim Stutzle is 6'1" and 190 lbs. Not sure why anyone would call him a midget. I'd say he'll probably weigh around 205lbs in a couple of years. |

Like he'd be top 6 instead of top 9. If JV gets another chance to play hockey this might be a wake up call not to take things for granted. I doubt it will be with Canucks.
Not sure if things will be clarified in time to trade him. But this is a simple 2 party investigation. Something should be known in the summer. The civil side could take another year plus. |

This has been speculated, who knows if it's true. I'd also point out that usually when a new GM is hired, they don't have much influence on the first draft since they haven't had a chance to implement their own scouting system and learn about their new scouting staff. |

This. Some weird comments in here.
To me, Brandon Sutter is undersized, he's very thin for a NHL'er at his height. His hits don't make a big impact, he does tend to get knocked over easier than other players. He relied on his speed which has since disappeared due to soft tissue injuries. |

From what I understand, he had minimal influence on that draft compared to recent drafts. |

Chayka is into some weird stuff, apparently the Coyotes had some bizarre mental-based tests that they asked prospects to participate in during interviews. I don't think he was into analytics as much as people think he is, he seems more into sports science and psychology as a whole. |

He's built a good young core which is what he was hired to do, now he has to build around them to get this team to take that next step. |

I'd like to add that Sutter was expected to play like his dad and uncles which really isn't fair since they weren't raised in the same environment. |
