If Colorado acquires him, there's no way it doesn't involve Bowen Byram coming back the other way, and again, Colorado needs to be sure they can fit everyone with the contracts they have coming up. Colorado fans, are you willing to do that? . . . .

Toronto Maple Leafs trade Morgan Reilly for Seth Jones.
Both have a year left on their contract. The leafs need to become more difficult to play against and Seth Jones brings that. Morgan Reilly's inability on the power play makes him a trade chip.

if Seth Jones is as overrated as everyone says he is then he is destined for Philadelphia.
The Flyers have the assets to get a deal done. And he can share his dad's parking spot who's ass. coaching the 76ers. |

Um, Columbus would take that for sure, especially because Seth Jones is a UFA in just a few weeks. - ShallowLarynx

Straight up Willy Nylander for Seth Jones.
Nylander has term remaining, is signed to a tradeable contract and is coming off a strong playoff performance. He becomes a top line player for a team in need of a star up front.
Jones has 1 year remaining on his deal so short term cost savings for the Leafs, gives them a chance (unlikely) to resign him but flexibility cap wise after that and another strong piece to contend in 2022.
The two teams have made deals in the past and this one might fit both teams. Would probably require Dubas to be replaced to make it happen though, he did promise Willy that he wouldn't be moved. - jestor
Honestly I like this thinking for your Leafs. They need help on defense and this is a way to upgrade without getting worse. People are hating on Marner cause the wounds are fresh but Toronto NEEDS him. He is why Matthews was a 40 goal scorer this season.

Firstly,
To Seattle: Sergachev
To Tampa Bay: 1st Round Pick, Expansion Draft Considerations (select Johnson)
Rationale: Tampa becomes cap compliant and adds what will will potentially be a decent 1st Round pick to start "restocking the cupboards." Seattle gets a talented young D-man to build around and a fairly decent forward and "local" boy.
Then . . .
To Columbus: Cirelli, Foote and a conditional pick in 2023 (dependant on Jones re-signing and/or Tampa's playoff success next year moves the pick higher or lower)
To Tampa Bay: Jones, Bemstrom
This one's a tough one, but Tampa is in cap hell and has handed out way too many NTC, NMC to its players. Columbus may get more for Jones but it's the most enticing thing Tampa might be prepared to offer, IMO. Puts them in a good cap position to re-sign Jones, and they probably have an easier time doing so than a lot of teams.
Go ahead, let me have it! |

Nothing. Wait a year, see if his game bounces back and sign him in free agency... this isn't hard |

Willie Nylander for Jones (EXTENDED) is fair.....But does Toronto want to trade Marner instead? (the fans sure do) Would Marner + Holl for Jones (A promise to extend under $8.25M with at least 6 yrs term) + Korpi + a 3rd

No way any GM is gonna overpay for Jones. They will wait until the very last minute when JK is backed into a corner. Hopefully Jones doesn't have a small list of teams to handcuff JK. He would look good on Quinn Hughes right side only if the cost is reasonable. Like jones for JT Miller and a prospect is all I would give up for him. |

Marner drives play and is one of the few gifted playmaking wingers in the league. Yes, he makes a bit too much money and he can't crash and bang but he absolutely was a big part of the reason why Matthews had a huge year and Tavares two years before. Trading him IMO would be a terrible, terrible mistake that would haunt the team.
Nylander is the piece to move, specifically because his value is high.
I also don't think the Leafs want to extend Jones necessarily, I think they want the cap space in 2023 and they want to shore up the D for an actual run in 2022. We'll wait and see what happens but I think it would be a good move. Jones is a RD so definitely fills the need and can play 1st or second pairing and fills out a legit solid top 4 D in Toronto. Add a backup goalie or recoup some picks to balance out Willy for Jones and sign the deal.

That’s too much. It’s close but I doubt the kings give up both Vilardi and Kupari |
