I was thinking this too. The two goalies he said weren't good enough and needed to be traded end up leading their teams to 1st and 2nd overall, and nominated for the Vezina. Pretty embarrassing.

I can't imagine Laine wants to re-sign in Columbus. Package deal. Two sell hi's and two buy low's for each other. I hope the leafs don't get in on this. Neither of those two solve their issues.

Honestly I like this thinking for your Leafs. They need help on defense and this is a way to upgrade without getting worse. People are hating on Marner cause the wounds are fresh but Toronto NEEDS him. He is why Matthews was a 40 goal scorer this season.

That’s crazy talk. I’m not against something reasonable that brings Seth Jones to Toronto. The crazy talk is saying that Matthews results are the doing of Marner. This is Matthews 3rd 40+ goal season and the first season he’s played on a line with Marner.

If people honestly believe that this is Marner’s doing, they need to split those two up immediately so that Mitch Marner can turn someone else on the team into a 40 goal scorer as well, because Matthews will get there on his own.

Reason the jackets do this. They add a playmaking winger to play with Liane. Rumor has it they tried to offer sheet marner when he was an RFA. Dermont is a decent add to help fill the void left by jones leaving 3rd pick is simply to even out value.

Reasons the leafs do it. Most obviously they need a change of thete core players. Adding jones is a massive upgrade on any current defensmen the leafs have. And makes there top 4 consistent of Riley brodie muzzin jones.. Domi like dermont just helps fill the void left by marner leaving. The conditional is to basically assure the leafs dont give Marner away if jones walks as a ufa. With domi being a ufa at the same time as jones is it affords the leafs the 10 mil or so they will need to keep jones.

he did make the playoffs for the last 5 years ....something the cbj should be grateful.

A survey was conducted on player agents by bleacher report. They basically asked who was the toughest gm to negotiate with , top answer was Kekaleinen, he tends to lowball his offers, he's also hard to read and always says '' that's how things are done or how the business works''. It's no wonder he got in a contract dispute with RJ and Werensky . But at the end of the day can you really blame him for managing his cap and to some extent an internal budget established by ownership. It's not as if were tied to 3 players making above 10 million.

Marner had a 94 point season not playing with Matthews at age 21. Marner for Jones talk is insane. This core group of Leafs are just entering their prime/window. Marner is the 2nd best playmaker is assists/gp in the NHL over the last 3 seasons. He is going nowhere and definetly not for an overrated 30 pt defenceman who has terrible underlying analytic numbers.

As much as I’d like to see the Flyers get Jones, unless they can guarantee he will sign an extension, it really is nothing but a high-end rental for a whole year. Better suited for a team with legitimate Cup aspirations. Too many long term question marks in Philly. So unless the price is a cap dump, NP and maybe a lower end prospect (Brink) and a draft pick (13th overall this year may not be anything special until someone else gets it... then of course that pick will be the second coming of Gretzky), Flyers should stay away. Kick the tires on this one, but don’t overpay.
