It’s pretty funny the “lowly” Habs beat the Jets, looked good doing it and have now won 4 in a row. Those leafs fans are such douchbags it’s astounding. - TogaIsles
Shhhhh! ... don't tell anyone but we like being the "lowly" Habs.

Yup, know the feeling.
Best of luck the rest of the way and hope Evans recovers quickly. |

Ironically, I think if he reaches with stick and goes for the puck to prevent the goal he stops him from scoring and then they have another minute to try and tie it up. |

Also, ironically, if Scheifele is skating even faster, he gets there a split second sooner with his hit, prevents the goal, and Evans ends up in the 3rd row. I'm not in any way condoning the hit, but just trying to look at it from all points of view. What is more difficult to justify was the follow-thru with the arm. I don't envy Parros trying to figure out how many games suspension are warranted. |

The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Rask in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. However, before playing a regular season game for Toronto, he was traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for former Calder Memorial Trophy-winning goaltender Andrew Raycroft.
This will never not be funny. - Cptmjl
Considering the outgoing management at the time ruined Raycroft. I'm glad this management is not losing their minds and just throwing Swayman in the playoffs.

Wow tough hit on Evan’s and reading Toga’s, Potvin’s and JS posts you see how people have similar and also different thoughts on the hit. None being wrong obviously. Evan’s does put himself in a vulnerable position, he knows Two players are pursuing him and once he comes around the net he’s gonna get pasted.
I think Scheifele was frustrated, pissed and was aiming to take out Evan’s. He came at full speed, with no easing at all and hit him in the head and it looked like he left his feet to increase the momentum of the hit. The follow through with the arm is there as well.
On the fact that Sheifele doesn’t play the puck to me seems irrelevant as you are allowed to check without trying to play the puck. That said I’m in no way defending the hit and the intent is is clearly there as far as Scheifele wanting to take out Evan’s.
For me the intent, plus the hit being a head shot ( whether intended or not ) on Evan’s who is in a vulnerable position for me makes this a suspend able offense.
Crazy thing about this is if you look at Tom Wilson’s hit on Brandon Carlo, that hit other than the fact that it was in the corner vs open ice is as vicious and Wilson got 7 games for it and is a repeat offender x 20. Word was that Parro’s didn’t want to suspend Wilson at all but smarter heads prevailed. So get ready for the league as it has many of times befor, get this all wrong. |

I honestly am hoping that Varly takes not being nominated for Vezina very seriously and goes on a a tear... or at least stops the first friggin shot on net.

I have no doubt in my mind the league will (frank) this up. I’m expecting a 2-game suspension and then all hell will break lose in Game 4 when Scheifele plays again. The fact this league claims to care about the health of its players is so laughable. It’s the biggest flaw of this sport I love.
*edit: it still gets me to this day that Gary Roberts ran Kenny Johnson from like a hundred feet away, total intent on crushing him and then boards the poop out of him, knocks the guy out of the playoffs, alters his career and didn’t even get a sniff of a suspension. The league hasn’t changed one bit. If anything, the lack of fighting has made it easier than ever to headhunt. Then, the league fines millionaires a few thousand bucks. Oh yeah, that’ll show them. Oh, and their own Union protects these guys while another one of their paying members sits in a hospital for a week, sometimes a month. It’s sad and…infuriating. |

I agree Potvin, The league has had numerous opportunities to show they are serious about protecting their players but have failed to do so. The NHLPA typically is on the wrong side of these decisions as well. Both The League and The NHLPA need to rethink how they are handling this issue.
In the good old days you would have to pay for wussy shat like this and there was a lot more respect for each other by the players because of it.
Coin flip on what he gets which is sad.
Agree with what you stated on the Robert’s hit on KJ. The offender should be out as long as the injured player especially if it’s longer then the suspension given by the league imho.
That would make players think before they hit a vulnerable player which increases the chances of injury.
I love the physicality of the game and don’t ever want to se it eliminated, but players need to respect each other’s careers. |
