it's somewhat strange in that i'm enamored with the dynamic play of eklund while you're interested in the two-way competitiveness of berniers...if someone red all of our posts throughout the years, they'd think the opposite - Michael Pachla
Lol both will be good players but with jack, sam likely gone have to go with the natural center thats why my pick is matty .
Scouts think he wastes a lot of movement with his strides. He has a weird skating stride and that’s why a lot of scouts point too when talking about the player.
I think he moves well despite that, especially once NHL development coaches get their hands on him, and is that modern NHL d-man that can QB a Power Play, transition the pick up ice, and provide offence from the blue line. - Pegullaville
that skating is strange...his edgework is nice, though...i haven't watched enough of him but from what little i did see, power, eklund, berniers and guenther (at least) all seem to have more going for them

eklund will be a very good player though - gerbe75pts
with cozens looking like a solid top-six/potential top-line center and mitts looking like a solid mid-six/possible top-six center, and with a probable center coming back in a jack trade, don't you feel you're reaching a bit in going for need instead of bpa?...not bagging on you just sayin'
Think a winger who can play both sides would be my choice
And yes a center can move to wing - Anderdog
I won’t argue that at all.
If the Sabres want to play like the Hurricanes, then they need guys that can go North/South in a hurry and a guy like Guenther would be ideal.
If the Sabres want to play more like the Lightning and have a lot of east/west puck possession and move in a group type of style of play, I can see Eklund being more of a preference.
Those deals should get Adams banned for life - SABRES 89
The Sam one seems like a lowball. The Eichel I could see us getting a similar return, maybe ANA throwing in a player already in the NHL on their initial contract.
I try not to compare any prospect to a first ballot hall of famer.
That’s why I went with the Nico Hischier comp. 200 foot player with a non-stop motor. - Pegullaville
I get that, my point was that I personally view Aho as better then now then prime Toews. Aho is criminally underrated due to being a second round pick, but all he's done is basically everything for a good, not great, Hurricanes team. Not taking anything away from Toews, but Aho doesn't have a real generational talent as his sidekick in Kane. So if the comps are in Gerbe's mind Aho and Toews, why wouldn't you want the Aho player?

Guenther underwhelmed a bit at the U18’s and I think it’s hurt his stock. However full sample size is very good.
I think Cozens and Guenther could be a really nice combo together though in terms of size, two way play, scoring ability.
I can see why the Sabres go Beniers because Center’s are the premium position and we have some question marks there if/when Eichel is gone. - Pegullaville
Good post flaccoville.
Although "best player available " is the word on the street.
If these kids are very similarly ranked, sabres should go center and add to the eichel replacement list.
Wouldn’t you want the center? I sure would - IceColdBeer
I want the best player. If it's a center so be it. The way this roster has been created, there is no position grouping that is good. I wanted Rossi last year not because he was a center, but because he is a top 5 talent that slipped to 9 because of size. BPA, always.

This is a tough comparison because it is like some kind of double scarecrow argument. We're taking two things that aren't the real things and then comparing them. Right now if I had to choose between real-life prime Toews and real-life Aho I would choose Toews.
