Wings will pick 1st in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft!

Postitive thinking everyone

Expansion draft we could see a deal with Seattle for picks, roster player and a AHL player.

Then a deal with Buffalo on Draft Day.

Owen Power 1st pick

Jesper Wallstedt with their 2nd pick of the first round. Which I think will be better than 10th,with Yzerman making a few deals.

Petro would be exempt from the ex-draft

I misread an article, but don't know why I didn't put 2 in 2 together. Oh well.

I predicted we'd win and draft Power so I will stick with it.

I also predicted the caps first round exit and we'd get a top 20 pick, I believe that part is right at least.

Many mock drafts have the Wings picking Walstedt at #7OA , and Aatu Raty with the Washington pick. I would rather a LD with the 1st pick, hopefully Hughes, and a center with the other 1st rounder. I think Raty will be gone by then so maybe Balduc, McTavish or Lucius will be there. Wings have 3 picks in round 2 to go goalie hunting.

I'm going with 8th since it's the worst they can get thanks to Seattle getting the 3rd best odds.

So this is my hope and let me be clear it’s very unlikely... I would like to see...
Bert Larkin bergerren
Zadina rass vrana
Namestikov veleno fabbri
Erne glenny panik
Bergerren making the roster is 50/50 at this point so maybe Bobby coming back for one more year makes more sense.. I put fabbri on the third line because I believe that gives us 3 lines that all present a decent scoring threat. I would love to see Nielsen gone but I assume he’ll be back next year as a 12/13th I know some may be against it but I would like to see glenny back next year unless we decide to sign someone else.

After an insane few months, I’m going to be taking a couple days off. If there is any “breaking” news I’ll post it. Other than that, time to take some deep breaths and get ready for two drafts and free agency

Well let’s look at this realistically for what it is. The Wings finished with the 5th worst record and pick 6th. We still fell a spot, just for different reasons.

I think that is the best possible take, very well done. Honestly, this is a draft where someone who should go 3rd could fall to 6th. It is what it is, and Yzerman has the ability to make things work. Buffalo will have its second first overall defenseman, but they seem to have trouble making the most of some of their assets. That could change for sure. Whatever the pick, they’ll probably hit the NHL in 2-5 years.

Thanks for dropping that, it was well done

I just put a video clip of Yzerman teasing Ansar Khan from MLive a bit. It was a fun back and forth. I know Steve respects AK and vice versa, just a funny bit. Worth the watch

If Tampa beats Carolina, the Red Wings will pick 23rd.

Mason McTavish might be the pick at number six. This kid had an NHL shot from the second he entered the OHL, has continued to improve his skating and has playoff-type strength.

Hopefully it's a Dman. Aside from Bernier, the center either don't project as NHL centers or are more scorers than playmakers which doesn't help the Wings. Pick a goalie later in the draft (2nd round or later).

I'm hoping one of Power (not going to happen), Hughes, Clarke or Edvinsson make it to the Wings but they likely could be all gone by then. Edvinsson might be the dman that makes it to the Wings pick if Bernier and Guenther get picked. Might come down to Edvinsson or Eklund for the Wings.

With the Caps pick i'm hoping for Fyodor Svetchkov but he might be gone by then.

I love Yzerman, but some of you guys going on and on about Yzerman doing his magic, Yzerman going off the board and finding a stud, try looking at some actual facts. I'll start.

His first ever draft pick at #6 overall was Brett Connolly. Oops.

In 2012 he went for a bit of a reach with Slater Koekkoek at #10. Mistake.

In 2013 he had the #3 overall pick. Everyone knew MacKinnon and Barkov were going 1-2. His team needed d-men to go with Hedman. Instead he picks Drouin over Seth Jones. Big mistake.

He's found some good talent in later rounds, but he's actually done pretty poorly with top 10 picks. Might help to admit that instead of acting like everything he touches turns to gold. Like Lucas Raymond may end up being a really bad choice. It's OK to admit that maybe Drysdale was the much smarter pick.

Final pet peeve is people acting like Seider was some great unknown that only Yzerman uncovered. Sorry but most mock drafts had Seider going between 10-15. Taking him at 6 was a bit of a reach, but try not to get too carried away acting like Yzerman fooled the world. And people act like its just a slam dunk that this was the right call. Seider is a real nice asset and hopefully develops into a #1...but if we had selected someone like Cozens, or Zegras, or Caufield...then a bunch of fanboys here would be hyping that player and not paying much attention to some Seider guy that was drafted by say Arizona.

I'm sure Yzerman himself would shake his head at some of the comments here.
