Our year is 2022/23
Everyone know this. Miller and Bo on cheap contracts. Elias and Hughes on bridge deals. All the dead $ is gone. Rathbone, Hog, Podz Amd this years 9th overall pick on an ELC. That is our year - CanuckDon
So we have a 1 year window? This entire thing is building to one freaking year?
Bo and JTM will need new contracts after 2022-23. Miller will be 30/31 and needing a raise/long term deal. Do you do that for him at that point? The year after (most likely 3 year bridges) will be Petey and Hughes. Not to mention Boes will likely get a raise the year before Bo and JTM.
This whole thing started with trading the 9th for another JTM instead of taking the pick and having a cost-controlled young player who will be on the upswing with the team as it's competing, not starting to come down. |

Cap will be taken care of, they'll find a way to make it work by that point |

Is that because you can’t spell or pronounce his name? A bit xenophobic no? |

This. Just need to get the bottom 6 and the defense improved and this team will be contending in 2022/2023. - Nucker101

You know what player fits in well with this core with a great cap hit? A rookie on an ELC, not a 28 year old guy who will be on the downside when the Canucks are ready to compete. - NewYorkNuck
The Canucks drafted Horvat at 9th. I would rather have a Horvat's career than 5 good years of a Miller |

The more I read & research the more uncertain I become on who we should pick.
Ideally Clarke stands out for talent & need. Doubt he is left for us.
Moving onto a C it gives us more options to pick from. None will be ready for 2-3yrs imo.
Going solely on BPA relies on who falls to us & most likely to occur given JB has a list of 9.
My trade down option doesn’t fit this draft unless the e-draft factors in somehow.
Overall other roster decisions are in the forefront. The need for some special maneuvering there is more important. Trades or buyouts MUST be where JB claims he’ll be aggressive.
The UFA season being after the e-draft then the draft make it the toughest challenge to come for JB to get it right. He’ll certainly be shopping but to what degree will be predicated on all the earlier moves & drafts.
The 1st domino to fall will be the key that’ll get it back on the rails. It ain’t broke but it’s far from being close to what we all expect.
JB you’re on the clock... |

better than a top line power forward in his prime who's signed to a great contract? For 9th overall in a wacky draft?
If that's the case then I sure as hell hope Benning is trading that pick, would love to add a player who's more valuable than J.T. Miller to this roster - Nucker101

Miller was a top 3 left winger two seasons ago. He is 100-% a first line winger. You should go back to the Stewie Griffin avatar so everyone knows you are an idiot before having to read your posts
Edit. Before you can reply I lost a bet |

We can be sure JB will pump whoever he picks 9th.
It will be a good pick but tbh it’ll be the strangest draft ever. Hopefully less focus is on draft picks being we expect JB to do his thing. It’s the all other biz that’ll be the focus. Nothing new there 😂 |

Ovechkin was the only 50+ point forward ahead of him in hits last season.
Only five 40+ point forwards had more hits than him this season
He’s a first line powerforward |

I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say you won't be able to count on Miller scoring at the rate he did last year for future seasons. Great player, but if we traded him for a top 10 pick people would be stoked. |
