Im shocked now that Cole Sillinger is dropping in rankings.
He had a really good season and easily has room to grow. - manvanfan
They have him at 12 to Calgary |

Ya ya blah blah blah.
He went out every game and did his job well.
Never going to be top 4 but did his job keeping pucks out of Vans net. - manvanfan
lol he was ok in the 5-6 slot. But with the amount of whining about Stecher when he was a Canuck was epic in here. But hey one good play and he's Norris material so the champs can say 'Benning let him get away' |

Thats not too bad a spot I guess. Maybe JB will be smart and pick him if he is there.
I wouldnt be surprised if Columbus takes him. From there and playing in the USHL easy scouting for them. Plus coming back to play under WD in med hat. |

Thought was there but if Benning used his analytics. He would have seen he is still reliable defender. That this team needs and was not ready to move on from yet. |

I will say he looked better as PO's went on last year when we almost took out Vegas. I would have been ok if we kept him for year or two but really the Troy Stechers of the world are a dime/dozen. We need a RHD in the top 4 badly. |

He would have been better than Schmidt. In hindsight, of course. |

I hope they give Chatfield another chance. He's a gamer, once he gets a better feel, he will improve quite a bit. Never going to be a top 4 guy but worth to keep around for a bit longer. |

I don't think even in hindsight that Stecher would have been better in the role that Van asked Schmidt to play.
The whole make up of the Canucks defence previous season didnt work, this past season it was worse.
I dont know if it gets better next season either. Maybe the season after it will be better. đ |

It will get better when they replace Baumgartner. Seriously, him and TG's systems are culprit number one. |

I think it would be easier to change the coaches instead of most of the players to fit the system.
Travis is learning though and maybe with more player changes and more practice time, things could potentially not suck as bad as they were last year. |

I hope, in the future, that the Canucks will hire a General Manager and a Head Coach that don't have to learn of the job. |

They should change their motto from âWe are Relentlessâ to âMore or Less Sucking, hopefully lessâ. |

Realistically, they wonât make the playoff next season. Jim will remind us that while the goal was playoffs, he did tell us two more years to grow and improve. So, 2022-2023 season both the coach and GM will be in the final year of their contract, Horvat and Miller are both UFAâs at the end of the season. What if theyâre on the bubble approaching the deadline? |

Wishful thinking, exactly what you want in an NHL coach |

Apparently drafting 6th-23rd-5th-5th-7th-10th-no pick-9th over eight drafts equals "I need two more years". How many other NHL teams have had six top 10 picks over the past eight drafts? Maybe Buffalo? |

When asked point blank of watching these playoffs he thought his team was capable of competing in playoff hockey he deflected and talked about the young core. Even Jim Benning doesnât believe this team will be competitive next year. |

Just went to have a look, Buffalo has picked top 10 in 8 straight, seasons, soon to be 9. |

I don't listen to Jim anymore, he is finger nails on a chalk board to me. His excuses, much like his 'plan', change day by day. I'm curious to see how much more he can f*ck the team this summer but other than that I don't care until there is a management change and Aquilini drowns in a boating accident.
Trade Horvat & Miller before they go UFA. |

Yup...I just looked, it's amazing they get made fun of, for good reasons, but Jim Benning gets a pass from his apologists.
Buffalo and Vancouver are two of the most dysfunctional franchises over the past seven or eight years, probably the worst two managed teams in the NHL over that timeframe. |

I am trying to be a bit optimistic, but it is awful hard. Every time Benning opens his mouth, I start to lose more and more of that optimism. |

Crappy old Trelivingâs 6th round pick with 2 more goals to advance to the finals. |

Both Buffalo and Vancouver have a nice young core they've been able to draft from poor finishes, the trick successful teams seem to figure out is how to surround those players with the complementary players they need to succeed.
I said the other day, Jim Benning's not had much success outside of his first round picks to build depth and or complementary players in the top six or in the organization. |
