You can't replace everyone and our guys are always worse than the guys we went to get for a pile of junk. Realistically, on defense, 1-2 changes are only possible if you want to improve. Where those two come from are TBD. - rpeters01
Don't say that in front of Darth.
I think a lot of my argument comes from the fact that I don't think that the Hawks are going to move Z. I don't like him because he is very clumsy with the puck on his stick and that got him into a lot of trouble. At the same time, he's an NHL D-man on a team that is trying to find enough of them. I also don't think the Hawks are going to have much issue with the Cap... |

It was reported that Stan would sign Reichel as soon as the WC ended. It’s clear that Stan realizes Reichel is a bust. |

Tip of the hat to Darth , think he was right on when he said Hawks should draft Caulfield looking ike the steal of the draft. So Darth who ever you think the Hawks should draft this year I'm wth ya.
Not to take anything away from Montreal but the jets may be the worst team I seen in the layoffs ever.
Their top players could not/did not do anything.

It was Reichel who realized that Stan is a fail.

There are good players needing to be dumped on Vegas and Toronto for example. Tampa? - rpeters01
Tampa could pay Seattle to take Johnson and could trade Killorn for minimal return and knock 9.5M off their cap hit.
Vegas IMO isn't that bad off cap wise - 22 players signed for next year at 78.8M. One of those is a 3rd goalie. Without him 21 players at 78M. They'll have to come up with a few million to re-up Martinez if they want him. Maybe some depth players like Stephenson, Reaves or Carrier will be on the block.
Toronto won't move their big 4 IMO. Rumour they may want to move Morgan Reilly who has one year left at 5M if they don't think they could extend him. That will give them some cap space but weaken their D. I don't think he will be given away though.
So, among the above, who, if any, would we like to see on the Hawks? Killorn, Stephenson, Reaves, Carrier or Reilly?
Edit - My bad. Stephenson not a depth player, playing top 6 center for Vegas. On second thought he may not be available. |

Stan will draft Connor Roulette. He will be assigned number 0 or 00.

I would rather sign Casey Cizekas as a UFA from the Islanders who unless they trade someone can't afford him. Believe it or not the Isle's have as much a cap problem next year as any team in the league. Even if they use Boyckuk's $5 mil. LTIR before the season, that is all they have in cap space to sign RFA's Sorokin, Pelich, and Beavillier. Unless Stan can wiggle a trade for Beavillier, that would be a nice top 6 winger to snag.
EDIT: Isle's are in worse shape, they can't bury Andrew Ladd on the taxi squad. So the Hawks get Ladd back a third time, Beauvillier for Strome? |

Still a dumped player more than one way to find good players out there. Stan should go after guys he can sign at fair prices young enough to be around. As has been said, can't draft your way to a winning team have to look under every rock.

I wouldn't call Bulvillier a dumped player. 24 years old consistent .5PPG, and plays a 200 foot game.

Hope you're being sarcastic. Way too early to tell anyways. Plus the Hawks have a better version of him in DCat.
Much rather take Dach at 3 then Caulfield.

He's tried that with Strome, Nylander Borgstrom and Stillman. Nothing wrong with that strategy. Just have to keep finding the right players.
Ways to add talent besides the draft...
Take advantage of other teams cap problems and acquire a large dollar contract as long as there is a sweetener.
UFA - players young and good enough to sign won't hit UFA until they are 27 or 28.
RFA - players younger than 26 or 27 require an offer sheet (at cost of draft picks) or acquire via trade.
Sign undrafted Euro and college players. Keep mining the Euro talent.

IF Dach can become the version of the bubble playoff Dach we saw last summer, he will be perfectly OK. Kid had a rough year. Broke his wrist and obviously never felt "right"
Far too early to play revisionist history on that pick. I am very curious to see if Caufield's shot and career follow a similar path to say.......DeBrincat. |

Hey Duff. I don't recall anyone anointing Boqvist the golden boy. People pointed out (and rightfully so) that for portions of the year, he was one of, if not the, best defesneman on the ice. His defense was markedly improved, and he was engaging more (and more effectively) in the O-zone.
... just a little patience.... - Chunk
Oh I have patience with Boqvist I just wish the team had shown some he has been pushed way to quickly and what's left of his confidence is eroding every day .Sure he has shown flash's of good hockey then is crippled by bad plays and heavy hits .He needed to be given time in the A to developed learn the position adapt to smaller ice turn those flashes into consistent play .He IMO is the perfect example of bad asset management . |

I thought the announcers said Montreal hasn't trailed in a game since game 4 against Toronto.
