Ya i don't think they will get the same opportunities as Vegas either, but, they may load up on defense, which will allow them to make some nice trades afterwards.
I think Francis will try get enough decent players to be competitive and load up on picks. - Reubenkincade
It’s impossible to protect all the good players on good teams, plus, they’ll make deals for good young prospects and draft picks if they take certain players at a teams request. Which they can in turn deal for good players.
Sh itty teams like Vancouver don’t lose important good players because they lack depth, and, Dale Tallon isn’t exposing Marchessault, his 3rd leading scorer, to protect some kid he thinks (falsely) might be good one day. |

Sad that 5 seasons later, the team will only lose a player of Gaunce/Sbisa quality again, or a young prospect like Lind, Gadjovich or Juolevi.
With the piss-poor quality Vancouver has to offer, I would take the best young prospect available. |

But if you bet that the Kraken will make the 2nd round of the playoffs before the leafs , you might be onto something 😉 |

Shane Malloy
from salary cap era, 06-15 first 10 years of salary cap era.
Canucks drafted 62 players, 10 players to play above 200 games. Dead last.
Forsling might get over that criteria. Might push past MTL.
Malloy says when you are last, that certainly shows why the bottom fell out.
Has improved under Benning, looking to the future 16-19 draft years, if they are going to be in the top 8 in the NHL, they need 7 players to make it. If they can get 5, will be in the top 10 range of best drafting in the league. |

Shane Malloy, really smart about helping out what most fans don't realize about drafting. - manvanfan
That was a very good take. Some factors dictated a few things but as for developing talent in Utica it was a big hole to dig out from. It still needs to get better & more drafting will help that. He didn’t mention players staying in Europe nor staying in college. |

Thats funny because 2 of those rookies replaced the production for every player they lost combined.
If by "very good players " you mean Perry and Polak? then no they didn't
Who was expecting Dallas to miss the playoffs??? links??
Except not every team dealt with full covid team outbreak, losing their best player and poor schedule. - Brooks_Light

He didn’t take draft position into consideration, or organizational competitiveness, which is ludicrous, the Canucks were an extremely competitive team over much of that time frame. Just saying. |

Man the radio folks must be just dieing, talked how the Jets would be lucky to hold McDavid to 2 pts a game , most said Oliers in 5 or 6 , most said the Habs would be lucky to win a game, then just last week were going on and on about the Av' s not losing a game and being the "Best" team , lol.
Same really smart people constantly tell us how bad the Nucks are and what needs to be done to fix them.
You get in the playoffs with a hot goalie and and tight group of players and literally anything can happen |

Excuses are facts that you didn’t find a way to overcome.
Was a Covid outbreak a factor that could affect the team? What did your team do to make sure you didn’t deal with an outbreak? Did it work? If you did have a positive case what did you do?
Was the divisional realignment something that a team could have anticipated during the off season? What did your team do to prepare for that eventuality?
Does the league send out the schedule to each team for approval prior to the commencement of the season? What did your team do to make sure that players weren’t exposed to excessive games/day, that there would be time for practice etc? - 1970vintage

He gets it at least. Understands what pro scouts know. Developing the players has always been something I found a lot of other teams do better. You want to be a winning franchise, you need to be good in all aspects. |

Imo, 2 of the top 5 teams in the league, get eliminated in this round.
Tampa, Colorado, Vegas, Islanders and Bruins are the 5 best teams in the league. |

True & it’s coming slowly. Bare cupboards & good picks bypassed Utica. Big help the farm is just down the highway. Jimbo has more immediate things on his plate to fix. He cannot go too fast & must fix it 1 piece at a time. Pod will be a big help but as long as 3C remains a hole it will stymy the team to get better. RHD is the forever search & most teams in the same boat. Team D has to be the goal of coaching. |

You mean the Habs dynasty, the Islanders dynasty, the Oilers,Devils Wings model can still be successful in today's era, who would have thought. |
