Isn't Patrick big time injury prone? Maybe not the best move?

Well then JB is even more dumb than I thought (which I thought was impossible).

I guarantee that if LE's $6M wasn't sitting in the press box Toffoli would still be a canuck.

It doesn't matter, even if Toffoli was a Canuck they'd still be golfing.

Good to see Mangeopenis doing well. Kids a good player. Hopefully the Flames can suqeeze him in with more contracts like Marky and Tanev coming for Calgary.

Well said. But it's works good for the whiners guild to use TT as a crutch but it is what it is lol

I for one did want TT back but cheaper and on a 2 year deal. The 4 year deal wasn't relly the right move give the direction of the club and the questions around Green. He probably would have buried TT on the 3rd line lol

- LordHumungous

But the 3 year deal for Pearson, one year later is?

Man, there must be a picture of you next to hypocrite in the dictionary.

Every slurper in here only wants to sign good players like Toffoli and Tanev for half the price and half the term but is over joyed with plugs like Beagle or Myers at twice the price and twice the term.

And I did not want Toffoli and didn’t like the trade, but still didn’t want to sign him, and am still happy they didn’t.

Vancouver is a fickle market.

Sign UFAs don't sign UFAs . No matter what you do your screwed.

Pearson played 121 regulation games scored 40 goals and signed to a 9 mil contract for three years and fans jump all over it. Next sentence fans say they should have signed Toffoli who played 10 games and had 6 goals to a four year 18 mil contract ( almost double) .

( Not directed at you)

See, totally agree, both stupid deals.

Canucks spent more than 4.5 in free agency so if they really wanted Toffoli they could have signed him. It came down to choices of who they wanted . They spent 2.5 on Jake , 6 mil on Schmidt , , Hamonic 1.2, Holtby 4.3 , They could have brought back any combination of any of Markstron Tanev and/or Toffoli .

You are confusing money over bad decisions.

I think Benning should have been gone but I supported Holtby and walking away from Tanev and Markstrom . I was very wrong on Holtby.

ASL is right though even with Toffoli we would still be golfing.

I dunno, take a few points away from the Habs, add a few to the Canucks. Could have swapped positions in the standings…

Yup. If he’s constantly injured on a Philly team then on the Canucks he would dissolve into a puddle of red goo. Our team is no place for often injured players.

Again where do we stand? Are we signing long term UFAs or not? I still am glad we signed no one longer than 2 years.

Lethargic PP , poor systems . I don't know how you win games with no one checking or standing in front of the net. How many games and periods were the team not ready.

Maybe. But IMO, it seemed there was an attitude problem in the dressing room that contributed to the poor start.

Players like QH, BH, and JTM all openly complained to the media that the team didn’t do enough in the off season to improve the team. Miller being the most vocal.

His attitude was completely different than it was in the playoffs. What made people call him a leader and identified him as a cause of organizational culture change was gone this season. I think the departure of Tanev, Markstrom, and Toffoli pissed off many of the core players. In turn, contributing to a lost season.

I wanted Markstrom gone but letting Tanev and Toffoli walk was a mistake on multiple levels.

Letting Toffoli and Tanev go, allowed Benning to snag Vessey and Boyd. When a plan comes together.

I will quote Burkie. "Most GMs make their biggest mistakes on July 1".

I will be truthful I loved Roussel before he came here . After he got here not so much.

How does Schilling go from scoring 11 goals on Boston to becoming invisible with Canucks.

Brad Richards ,Bonino ,Dowd , even Gangner is doing a lot better.

As I said I can't see how Benning survives this year but my bigger concern is coaching.

Luongo refused to allow himself to be pulled in games where either he or the team was poopting the bed.

His ego cost the Canucks against Chicago in a couple of series and against Boston potentially. He handcuffed AV at a minimum with what options he had as a coach. The guy then deliberately screwed over the Canucks on the cap.

If Toffoli signed here his linemates would have been JTM and Vesey

Benning shouldn't make trades and stay out of free agency.

He does better with the waiver wire.

I was under the impression the Canucks were trying to get younger. What do they do, trade for a 6 million dollar#4 defenseman, who is half the defenseman as the guy he was brought in to replace, but hey he is only turning 30 thos year, so 16 months younger than Tanev.
I can't believe the crap this fanbase gobbles up, when it comes to some of these acquisitions.
