This is PK Subban all over again.
I can't see rover playing with rover making a good pair. It's pretty much Myers and Hughes playing together vs lower competition and get annihilated. - manvanfan
I think you're right here.
Jones is a good defender, with size and mobility.
He's peaked tho.
We absolutely should not spend assets to acquire him and we can't afford his salary next year to pay him anyways.

Agreed.
I;m with most on here.
Glad some new blood is being added to the coaching ranks, and pleased that coach Clark is locked in for Demko's contract.
I wonder if Shaw took the gig thinking ahead to potentially becoming the heir apparent to the HC role?
I noticed that Ray Shero is joining Minny as an advisor to GM Billy Guerin.
I wish we could add someone with that pedigree to help GMJB. - dbot
He's got Doug Jarvis. |

Petey 7+ mil x 3 years - VANTEL
I could live with those numbers...

I also like that they would not be up for negotiations on the same years. |

Well, he apparently holds the record for the iron man, with most consecutive games played in the NHL...but that's not the pedigree i was thinking of.

Would love to have him on the team, he's just not going to be worth the trade value or the new contract value IMO. |

Gives Conner Bedard 1 year to prove he's better that EP40 i guess.

That seems moronic. Quinn will be a UFA at the end, age 26 |

Doesn’t 5 years take him to UFA? That would be a mistake. |

Quoting myself, but add to that if you think 2nd line players need to score above a 45 point pace, that'd be 186 players in the league doing that...
in 2019-20 there were 88 forwards
in 2018-19 there were 121 fowards
in 2017-18 there were 127 forwards - NewYorkNuck
I'm not going to dispute your numbers, but that just shows overall quality of players being poor if 2nd liners are not expected to get 45+ with those minutes. |

I like those deals. Hughes could be a major fan hate on the GM after 5 years if he walks though. |

I don't see it that way.
I think Benning won't make it through the year and in year three the fans will be wanting the new guy fired and calling for the return of Benning

Next GMs problem.
This us no difference (other than half the cost) as Matthew's. He could want to go play with his brothers in 5 years, or he could re-sign his monster contract with us. That's a 5 years from now problem. |

Or that your expectations are unrealistic And how would you dispute the numbers? They're taken from NHL.com
I mean, that's just the data of how many players score more than 45 points. Maybe you need to change what you think a 2nd line player contributes? I mean, why are you ardently holding on to this 45 point plateau? Where does that number come from? |

My personal view. Players producing less with the ice time are basically 3rd liners playing up a line, 3rd wheel basically. Lots of players are like that. Not 1st or 2nd liners but they work with the 2 guys on their line that are. |

But it’s irresponsible on the part of the GM. I refuse to believe Jim would actually sign that deal. |

A lot of high end players sign the 5 year deals. It's not a blemish on JB if Hughes is merely one of them. |

Both Pouty & Huggy should be offered no more than 3 year deals. |
