Yes actually it is a good thing, now I get to watch Montreal beat Vegas on their way to the SC. - Makita
As long as TB doesn't repeat. I think the Isles winning the cup. An Isles and Habs final I don't think would appeal to very many. |

Hopefully, his self-inflicted cap constraints will prevent him from adding more burdensome contracts. He did promise to be aggressive in free agency & trading, one can only hope he is lying again. - Marwood
Gonna be an interesting 6 weeks. |

For the long-term outlook, probably*. However, Toff is a better player than Hyman, so the regression wouldn't be as low.
*though that doesn't factor in the assets given up to get Toffoli - NewYorkNuck
They were pretty close to this year at .85 to .77 in points per game.
Career points per 82 games is 49 for Toffoli and 44 for Hyman.
I would say Hyman brings more attributes than Toffoli does. Better skater, more physical, more PK duties. Not saying Hyman is better but different.
I would say if you think one was a complete mistake to not sign then the other should be given consideration as well. |

Factoring in no assets for Hyman.
Different type of player. Puck retrieval is good to very good. Scores & compliments very well. |

What do people think of Carlo as a potential trade target? Boston could look to shake things up a bit. |

We will also have to factor in their actual deals, as well. Toff signed last year, so was 28, while Hyman will be signing at 29 for how long and for how much? If he wants more than Toffoli and for longer, that factors into it as well.
If Hyman wants a 2 year deal, then ya, I have no problem with that signing. But I doubt he does. |

Listen you jackass. This dude was a hot
Commodity. Green had several phone interviews with him. His reputation made him an organizational target: the minute the Canucks were made aware he was available they were the first team to call. If your 1A option is willing to join the club you get it the (frank) done before someone else can - CanuckDon

I doubt many people thought Toffoli would go for what he did. Hyman is a better player than Pearson and pretty much the same age. A number between 3.25 and 4.25 for either 3 or 4 years. I'd consider it for sure. Why wouldn't the Canucks not to want to add a quality player at a reasonable price. They could sure use it.

Seems as if for the Canucks it's going to be Johnson or McTavish.
I have a question for everyone. If someone scored 29 goals and had 12 assists, and then 9 goals and 2 assists. would you consider that player to be a very smart playmaker? - manvanfan
Sounds like Virtanen

TBH if they didn't sign Pearson and signed Hyman in his place I'd think that would be a much better use of the money. I didn't like the Pearson signing. |

I doubt anyone would disagree with you there.
Money used to get an upgrade on Pearson would have been better but who knows who that might have been or whether or not there was an options when the time comes for the right price and right player.
I probably wouldn't have re-signed Pearson but management keeps pissing off the players. |

I mean, they could have waited to see. There was no rush to resign Pearson before the TDL, but Benning felt it imperative for some reason. |

Hyman will cost more in the open market guaranteed so Benning did well here. |

Bo may have had something to do with getting him signed. He has chemistry with him and is tired of a revolving door of wingers.
They went and traded for Miller after Elias said something about needing a left winger, so why wouldn't you accommodate your captain? |
