Yeah I feel like Winnipeg gets pretty badly hosed in this scenario.

Oh for sure but the ole “doesn’t produce in the playoffs” nonsense causes GMs to do stupid things.

I think DeAngelo got a raw deal. Apparently teams were looking around the deadline though. Because he’s so young, NYR is only on the hook for about 1/3 of his contract on a buyout. He was offered a termination deal (more like pressured) but would have given up a good chunk. Hockey media has treated him really badly. I wouldn’t mind a flyer on that kid at all

M. Staal was DeAngelo’s partner in NY, just maybe he can help guide this guy if he stays in Detroit. DeAngelo does have talent and don’t we all want a second chance after a F-up? Stevie may be the figure head needed?

Doubt Yzerman takes another crack at him. Kid needs to go to a very veteran team and likely a smaller market and probably a red state too.

Maybe Dallas?

He could go from hated to fan favorite there.

Dude Maurice blows. Love Ehlers. Favorite player from the jets.
- Feds91Stammer

no argument here, Maurice should've been canned two years ago and sadly i dont see them firing him this year either, as long as he is our coach we have no hope. his systems, line configuration, love of crappy veterans and loyalty to certain players is screwing us and wasting a vezna goalie and some great young players.

No chance the Jets trade Stanley.

If they don't trade him then there is a decent chance Seattle claims him. Likely between him or Copp.

I'm thinking more like Novosibirsk.

Copp will be protected.
Appleton will be the best forward Jets expose, IMO anyway. and im fine with losing Appleton.

i think Seattle will focus on whichever of Demelo or Stanley is left unprotected

Yeah you've got the last 4 guys right. I think they protect Appleton over Copp. He's younger and can be qualified for about $2M less than Copp. Also think they go DeMelo over Stanley since DeMelo is locked in at $3M and has shown he can handle top 4 minutes. The ceiling on Stanley is more of a 3rd pair PK guy. But we'll see.

Protecting Stanley over DeMelo would be a massive mistake IMO.

The mistake is thinking that a guy who is 6’7” and still sucks despite his size advantage is ultimately going to develop into a better player than, say, a 5’10” player who is getting much better results at the same age against the same competition. All that tells me is that the tall guy is much, much, much less talented than the short guy, and probably always will be.
So much for Stanley, NEXT!!

Derek Forbert as a UFA is a good left side bottom 4 option. He's tough and not terrible in his own end.

This team needs top 4 capable imo. No point in looking at bottom 4 capable.
