When the Sabres make that 1st pick, are they considering how well a guy like powers pairs up with dahlin?
Are we projecting d pairings?
Nylander pick clearly seemed to be eichels winger. - Boss34
No. I can say that with certainty.

Yes. At 6'6" he should be using his body more instead of just his reach. For a guy arguably at 1 OA. - TheSabresTaco
Why though if he doesnt need to?
Risto takes him self outta plays with his big hits... Or so i've heard around here. You guys want him gone.
But now we have a young guy coming along who uses his body but stays in the play at the same time. Which is exactly what you want. You don't see Hedman smashing people left and right. |

Great write up , as always.
Just scored tickets to the redsox games.. 20th and 21st.
Presale Bills season ticket holder
Wife is a redsox fan, I'll be rooting against them.
Have you been to a game? What should I expect for $150 a ticket. 🤔 |

Risto is the hockey player version of a cave man. Or a viking I guess. Power is actually intelligent.
I don't need Power to be The Juggernaut. But it would be nice if he was more physical than noted offensive dynamo, Rasmus Dahlin.
It's ok to throw a few deadly hip checks per season. He has an asset, his size and eventually weight, that can positively impact his own team. I don't need the guy running amuck searching for a hit, but once in a while, crush someone. |

If dahlin is the franchise guy, I wonder if the Sabres juggle character, position and fit moving forward?
Easy to say BPA, but looks like a crapshoot.
Although powers was getting some prime time in the gold metal game a few days ago. Looked big |

His biggest critiques in the d-zone Michigan were that he gave up the blue line too easily and he got out worked along the boards.
I’m not asking him to go out of his way to make a hit. I would like him to be able to use his size in board battles though and not get out muscled by someone half of his size.
I’m saying that, he should be able to put on weight and that will come with time and age but it is something to keep an eye on. |

He does use his body more than Dahlin.
Watch his tape man. He doesnt pound people hes rubs them out takes em outta the play and puts himself back into it.
Which is the most intelligent defense a guy can have.

I had a great time. The thing that struck me most versus going to a Bisons game was just the quality of the depth. Ryu started for the BJs and then one of the relievers came out throwing 97 mph heaters.
The lighting upgrades are very noticeable and the concourses are all decked out in blue. Very fun atmosphere.
Getting into the park went smoothly. Just have your excelsior pass ready on your phone if you're in the Vax section |

You get guys like Dahlin, like Cozens, like nu-Mittelstadt, guys who bust their ass to be the best on the ice day in and day out, great team mates, want to win here. I am acutely aware of a culture and player character type that Kevyn is looking for.
Ristolainen too, if he wasn't a bag of (frank)ing rocks and nonchalant about being here. |

LA wants to add multiple forwards and a d-man.
They are going to want to shed cap or create an even trade to balance cap space so they can add more. - ImThatGuy
Well that's fine, like I said if Olofsson is included included is included for the swap they are only taking back 3.5 mill, cause Iafallo and Quick is almost 10mill right there. |

He'll learn to use his body/size more, tis one of the hardest things at that age. He's already got a decent handle on himself. Skating can be improved as well with a little tweaking.
The guy has some silky mitts for a 6'5 Dman. His vision/playmaking I put on par with Hughes.
His size+skill is what seperates him from the pack. Which is what everyone looks for in a d-man now a days.

@ 18 its tough to learn your body at that size. And hes probably not done growing lol. He'll learn to lay the big hits more as he gets older. For his age though hes got a great handle on himself.

I do wonder if big guys at a young age shy away from that sort of thing because they've been called for penalties doing the exact same thing as a smaller guy does, but looks bad because he's a foot taller then everyone else. So focus on the skill side, hasn't honed in on the hitting side as much, but once you start getting older you have to. Not saying just Power, but all taller guys in general. |

Forgot to mention there's netting essentially all around the seating area between the field and the fans like at Sabre games. I didn't find it noticeable |
