So Stone, the best defensive forward in the playoffs(which is more important than offence) is not a superstar? - neem55
No, he’s not, but he’s a great player. Connor McDavid, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Alex Ovechkin are superstars.
Ottawa took him in the 6th round, damn they draft well in Ottawa. |

Exactly. To be a superstar you gotta be sexy as (frank). Defense isn't sexy. |

pretty much exactly what he is saying. Yzerman, Bergeron... good, not great.
Or wait, great but not a superstar. I forgot that improtant difference |

I disregard any list of superstars that doesn't include a Goalie. It shows ignorance. |

I think you missed my original point entirely, just because you’re not a superstar doesn’t mean you’re not a great player, but there’s only a handful of them in the league at any one time. Mark Stone is a great player, but he’s no superstar.
Originally I said Vegas reminds me of the mid 80’s Flyers, big team but they didn’t have any superstars like Edmonton did. They had great players in Propp, Tim Kerr, Dave Poulin, Rick Tocchet, Howe, McCrimmon....just didn’t have a Gretzky, Messier or Paul Coffey. |

I would say there aren't any superstar goalies in the league right now. Carey Price sort of was a little bit ago.. but there are no Roys or Brodeurs or Haseks right now. |

Bossy is probably top three goal scorers in NHL history, still the highest career GPG in NHL history at 0.762
1) Bossy
2) Mario
3) P. Bure |

I think a decent case could be made for Fleury. |

Ya, that's true, forgot about him.. but not sure about superstar. Especially the past year or two with Vegas when he's been shuffled between backup and starter after being let go by Pitts. Doesn't scream "superstar" at that point. |

I think Montreal is gonna be in tough against Vegas. Most likely Tampa vs Vegas final with the Bolts repeating as champions....cheaters. - DraftandDestroy
Tampa is a buzzsaw, nightmare matchup for anyone |

The Flyers never won a cup in the 80’s, and yes, during the early 80’s Bossy was certainly an NHL superstar player, four Cups with the Islanders and lead the league in goals every year before Gretzky came along |

How many 50 goal seasons? Was he more offensive or defensive? Cause defence wins, but offence is superstar |

No, but if you look at the career as a whole he's up there with the best. Even Gretzky rode the pine later in his career. That doesn't diminish his body of work, nor should it. Same goes for Fleury. |
