Not even a debate to me.

I'd probably agree on that. I'd say their offensive output could both be about the same, the difference being that Palmieri (who's less than a year younger) will probably be better suited to translate to a bottom-6 role as he gets older an the offense dries up a bit.

Plus I don't think he's getting $7M with the flat-cap. You're essentially refinancing the 1st line RW

loved NHL radio saying that Charlie went down to try and draw a penalty and it cost him 10 minutes in the quiet room

Losing Ladd would be best but it will probably come down to losing Leddy or Eberle. Bolduc give the Isles a good option on D if he is ready to make the jump next year.

Well that isn't happening... b/c No one is taking Ladd. I have to continue to bash Palmsieri until the playoffs is over b/c everytime I do he scores..

should have gotten Hall instead.

Palms is the prefect Lou and Barry player and would work better in a bottom 6 role.

Going to be interesting to see what happens this offseason. Can Eberle be moved and Palms gets re-signed and Wahlstrom or Palms is on the first line next year?

Eberle and Bolduc for a 2nd and an autographed photo of Fedorov slashing Chara in the face.

Loved the talent of Hall but he scares me with the baggage. Thought Palms was the right move and thought it could work similar to JGP.

If there is any chance Bolduc can be a mini Pelech version no way.

Comparing them after the first round, I'd have said the Isles should have gotten Hall due to how well Boston's entire second line was performing after they acquired him. After watching the two compete head-to-head, man, you really get an appreciation for the kind of player Palmieri is once a series becomes an all-out war.

Just reading some of the comments from other posters on HB, it sounded like Palms was washed up and the Isles made a lousy trade.

I heard good things on Palms and how he would fit Lou and Barry system and that was enough for me. Seeing what Hall did with Buffalo and his rep was also enough for me.

Hall really hurt his value this past season. In fact he keeps consistently chipping away at it. I’m not sure if Boston will sign him.

At the time of the trade I thought the Isles made the best move they could, for the reasons you mentioned: Palmieri seemed like a perfect Lou/Trotz addition. But I also underestimated the kind of player Hall is...based on what I read about him I expected a lazy, selfish player who wouldn't back check or get his hands dirty when it mattered. He was a tougher, better player than I imagined. Palmieri, though, took his game to a whole other level this past series and erased any doubts I had.

Hockeyislife's opinion notwithstanding, Vegas is now a heavy favorite to beat Montreal, and go on to win the Cup. Isles with a 36% chance of beating Tampa. Could be worse...

This is the Lightning's last kick at the can with this roster. I don't expect them to be an easy out. The Isles have a lot of game tape from last year's matchup to watch and that series went six games with a weird game one. All things being equal this year, I expect this series to go seven games with a few overtimes thrown in. Tampa is on a mission and the Isles are solid and out for revenge.

I remember our impeccable source, Wildschwein, warned us about Hall, so I favored Palms.

Should be another good one, but man the Lightning are so deep and talented with the best goalie in the world. The Isles will make it hard on them for sure but at the end of the day I thinks its Tampa in 6 again

Still very surprising Colorado is out. Is Vegas still that fast as a team?

Hall took big money from Buffalo. I do not care they were a mess you still owe it to your organization, teammates, and fans to give your best.

If they can get it to a Game 6, I cant see them losing a Game 6 at home. That's the biggest difference I see between last year's sterile series and this year where there is actual home ice advantage.

7 games wouldn't surprise me I just have a gut feeling its 6 with the Isles losing a tough one at home at some point.
