Dubas and Shanahan had no option but to die on the hill they built! ( We believe in our group and it just takes time ) What else could they say...….we were wrong and this is never going to work! Unfortunately we will have to live through another one of these disasters before changes are made. The days of having 2 or 3 superstars on a team and backfill the other positions with whatever you can afford, are long gone. Only a well balanced team has a chance. Of course this years Tampa team is a little different being $18mil over the cap and having a tax advantage.
After watching over 50 years of Leaf hockey I've about had my fill of this crap. I'll still be a casual observer, because I like hockey...….but I've bought my last game ticket and team paraphernalia.
Really how does the MLSE board work as far as firing and such.. really interested .. is it a 1 man at the top decision or a group and just a majority vote or what...
I have to think if next yr comes to as ugly an end as this yr.. It's going to be a full housecleaning.
People can blame Matthews, people can blame Marner, people can blame the the goaltending. But IMO the series was lost because the Habs clued in that the Leafs had no threat from the back end. They knew if they smothered the star forwards and just left the Leafs D to score the chances would be slim that they would. Just smother forwards, wait for opportunity mistake and then pounce. It was obvious and it worked.

That's what I thought last year.
I think the Tavares injury bought them another year.

Shanny brings a plan to them for approval and they weigh in. He would address his confidence in Dubas/need for big directional changes. They might push back. If they have no confidence there could be a mo e to get rid of him. Tannenbaum is the one non Bell/Rogers guy and probably has the most say.

It’s really nice to see that after Denmark witnessed a teammate collapse on the field and have to be brought back to life with CPR, the remaining teammates have no problem pretending to drop dead to draw free kicks.

Finnish fans chanting “Christian” and Dane responding with “Erikson” was (frank)ing awesome.
I’ll take Euro 2020 games over the rest of this Stanley Cup playoffs, thank you.

I don’t know how that was a penalty.
I was watching the game when Eriksen went down. That was, personally, the worst thing I’ve seen in a sporting event and I was watching when Peverley collapsed. I didn’t see Travis Roy, the Bertuzzi incident and idk if there is anything else that even comes close.
I’m not a doctor, but they only defib you when you’re gone, no? I know they do to get peoples’ heart back in rhythm if you have afib, but totally different scenario, obviously.
I thought he died and I continued to believe so until I saw that picture of him conscious and placing his hand on his head. I was most certainly hoping for a different outcome, but holy poop. The way the medics were working on him, the reaction of the teammates, everything…you really just expected the worst. What great news to hear he’s at least ok at the moment. I had know words for what I saw.
