Why is it unfair to knock Sutter? You yourself said he can't stay healthy. He's not fast. He's not physical. He's old(er). He's not putting up points. Sure, he PKs and takes faceoffs, but other people can do that too.

And I already said, he can be replaced by Graovac. I also like Wennberg (but that is more 3C), Nosek, Haula... I'm sure there are going to be guys on the market both trade and buyouts that will be available that are better than Sutter.

I forget who said it (maybe Vintsy ) Sutter will end up in CGY . I don't think Canucks should try to match the offer.

What I find interesting is when rosters get built by ACGMs and you see Highmore Zack Motte Sutter Lind or whoever on it . You can't have change unless you move on from players. (Not directed at you).

You can go a different route of Zack Motte Highmore and so on and bring in a different bottom 6.

Like it or not, players have pride, and human nature suggests that people won’t do the same job for less, or much less. It would be like asking Jim to step down and be a head scout (even at the same $).

It’s too bad, but it’s probably what will happen. For Sutter to join the Flames for $1m he gets to save face, suggest he is joining a team he sees promise in, it’s a good fit, coming home etc.

Edler I could see signing for below market value ($2mish), but I bet if he shopped around he could get a couple years with a contender to play 3rd pair and PK

It’s one thing I post line-ups & another thing if picked apart. That’s 1/2 way to nowhere if not countered with replacements. Role players are needed for PK & energy & if in game injuries able to take on more minutes.

Playing 5v5 PP & PK are for a select few. Not many like Bergeron & Marchand type players to go around.

If 4th liners are so limited then give them 6-8mins a game but the top 3 lines have to produce & not burn out.

It’s professional sports to you, it’s a career for him. If the organization didn’t get value for their money it’s because they didn’t evaluate their needs correctly, or they didn’t evaluate their employee correctly.

This mentality of he can stay for cheap or see ya is something only a fan would say. What if he signs a $3m contract, what would you say then? “Well Benning must know what he’s doing”?

End of the day, I don’t think they can afford to keep him, and I don’t think he takes a league minimum contract to stay.

No problem with Motte. Highmore worth another look. MacEwen doesn't impress me at all. Sure he stands up for mates & the ofd fight but he disappears all too often. Very lil impact every game. Move on from him. So who are the new 2 C’s?

I would rather go the trade route but free agents you could look at Danault Zajack Stasny . They would all come in around 5 mil . Cheaper ones Wennberg Nosek Haula.
