Another coach whining about the penalties!!!
- maximumcarnage

It’s like they’ve forgotten that the Islanders were one of the least penalized teams in the league this season... 🤔

And frankly if Cooper wants to female dog about anything, he’d should female dog about all the turnovers his boys coughed up. Stamkos in particular.

Did they really complain? I thought that was an extremely clean game with very little in the way of missed infractions. Seems a bit early to pull that angle out

He said they make their own breaks so he didn't really complain, a way of saying we got outplayed and took penalties

I heard his post game interview on the radio and he whines about being down 3 to 0 on power plays. Not as bad as Cassidy but definitely sounded upset about it.

I agree With you, I’m not sure what Cooper wanted to be called but The lightning got a break on Nelson Penalty.

Cooper said this is the same team that we beat last year
- Upstate_isles

Gave no credit whatsoever to the islanders meanwhile our entire team paid homage to them and showed class. Good give us some more fuel. I mean who ever liked Cooper Tampa fans even hate him he’s a swarmy douche bag.

He did say we “earned them” so I won’t beat too much on him for that but he’s Cooper. He’s an arrogant D bag.

My bad. I must have missed the beginning of the conversation. My recollection was they asked him about how the game went or something like that and he said something like it’s hard when you are 3 to 0 on power plays.

I just watched it on the NHL network and he’s says “it doesn’t help when it’s 3 to 0 in the penalty department”. Yes he does say they earned but in a very condescending way. Why bring it up like a little female dog?!?!

They didn't ask him how his team scored a power play goal if they didn't get a power play?

That’s Cooper. Pretty much his MO. I get pissed just like you that the team doesn’t get the credit or respect they deserve but when it comes down to it who cares? Laugh at’em. This team feeds off of it. Great start but it’s faaaarrrre from over Tampa is going to be a MUCH different team next game.

I think deep down Cooper knows his team was outplayed and the better team won. Spewing a bit of the Islanders get PP’s and we don’t is a play on what Cassidy said and if you say it enough maybe it makes a difference and someone listens namely the refs.
I don’t think it helps but give him credit for trying and doing it a hell of a lot respectable than Cassidy crying imho.

Just got back from the liquor store. Hope you folks are happy.

Good game, except for the final score. Very close and could have gone either way.

Can't wait for game two. Hopefully my liver gets a break.

Great win by the Isles. Awesome puck management and staying out of the box. Very happy for Barzal and Pulock Power with the big goal. Tampa was not as sharp and will come out very strong next game. Winning at least one in Tampa was a must.

I've never been a fan of Cooper. I dialed back my criticisms of him after the Bolts won the Cup, but I still don't like his smug face and lawyer-influenced way of handling questions and making statements. He sounds like a phucking politician when he talks.

The calls were fair. First one was blatant. I forget who it was, but he got beat and he had to haul the guy down to prevent him from walking in. You have to call that.

Second one was less blatant, but still valid.

I missed the third one - I was cooking spaghetti.

Calls looked even to me. I saw a couple noncalls against the Bolts, but nothing blatant, just some ticky tack stuff that could go either way. Nothing to have butthurt about. I've seen far worse officiating.

Bolts got beat. No way around it. Isles wanted it more.

I don’t think the Refs had an influence in the outcome of this one in any way honestly.
Coop’s their coach and he’s going to skew it Tampa’s way in the PO’s and try to get some traction from the refs. It’s a best of 7 and there’s a lot of hockey to be played. I agree Islanders executed their game plan and were the better team today. Tampa will reset and come out hard the next game and the Islanders will need to be even better than they were tonight to win game 2. This will be a very hard fought series between 2 great teams with really great staffs behind them. No one should think this will be easy for either team.

The isles play in the neutral zone was fantastic tonight and they got the puck out for the most part, tampa controls the puck a lot but the isles counter was great I think the rushes were 9 0 isles

Told ya the stretch pass killed the lightning in the 2nd

Isles were the better team by far imho tonight. Again Cooper’s team will be ready to go Tuesday night. That said, so will Trotz’s team. Take your stretch pass and stick it
Let’s go Islanders!

I mean he is correct. His team should have been called for embellishment a few times.
