Hains: Changing the Narrative

The semi-final between the Canadiens and the Golden Knights hasn’t even started yet, and I’m already sick of hearing the narrative some medias have chosen to push.

Oooops missed the question sorry. I like what Trotz has done with the Isles but I dont think they have it in themselves to overcome Tampa unfortunately...i’d say TB in 6. Missing Anders Lee really hurts their attack. You?
- Karine Hains

Yes, but trade deadline acquisition Kyle Palmieri has 7 goals in 12 games.

Good luck Habs and Isles!

Congrats, you’ve just reached a new low in relevance, that’s not easy to achieve here.

He helps but they’d be even better with their captain

Why can’t Quebecers just be proud that there are French-Canadian players in the league rather than be annoyed that they are not playing for the Tricolore?

yeah I think the narrative did change a lot in recent years, and the fact that there are so few Quebec-born players on the team right now kinda reflects this (if the organization was so obsessed with having a certain number of quebecers on the roster they would've probably acquired/drafted more and make it an absolute priority over skill, which we haven't really seen all that much). younger generations of fans weren't around to witness the "glory days" when the habs were winning multiple cups while half the roster was french, so this is surely a lot less important to them. I think habs fans in general today don't care all that much about player nationality, and understand how the draft works and that MTL doesn't have first dibs on Quebec players like they used to. we still hear complaints about it because the few who still have this outdated mentality are just louder, and really like to make themselves heard.

that being said, very good blog as usual Karine, and GO HABS GO

I'm a proud Canadian, though not of French descent, and I love our country for our bilingualism and the fact that we have a place like Quebec. That being said, the franchise is handicapped by the obsession of some fans and pundits in regards to how "French" they are. The team needs to compete, the league is no longer predominately of one cultural background and a team can't be built with consideration constantly being given to political leanings. J'adore les Canadiens, mais.... Some time it's too much.

the number of quebecers currently on the team kinda says otherwise, they haven't really handicapped themselves to please that portion of fans that want french players at all costs. the only positions where they really do limit the candidate pool is with the GM and coach, but usually there are always competent people available that fit the bill, so at the end of the day it hasn't been that much of an issue

Ugh... Chris Lee is nowhere to be seen around this game. Brace yourselves Habs fans, he’ll be assigned to our semifinal https://scoutingtherefs.c...ees-and-linesmen-6-13-21/

that TB roster basically doesn't have any flaws, and with the way they're taking advantage of the salary cap being completely thrown out the window during the playoffs it just gets annoying, really.

I'm hoping they can muster a decent enough blue-collar effort to provoke the improbable upset. Isles in 7

that tells a lot about the quality of reffing. when a clown like him works in the playoffs.... shows that the depth is not there.

They’ve been very good! Shots were 7-1 TB early on and now it’s 21-18 Isles. Got to love Barzal, quite the player
