Weren't you impressed with power in the international tournament?

I was.

- Boss34

I thought he had a good tournament.

I also thought Bouwmeester had a pretty good career.

I’ll just say that if 5 years from now you told me Owen Power was the best player from this draft I would be surprised.

He played well but that is like an AHL level tournament, still a ways to go before becoming a consistent contributor

I’d be fine with that caliber of player considering JayBo was a mid range #1 for a good decade.

But I think the O upside is way better

J-Bo had some good years in Florida.

The best player from 2017 is Makar, followed by Pettersson. Picks 4 and 5

In 2018 the best player is probably Svechnikov followed by Dahlin and Hughes

2016 is Matthews, but you could probably put McAvoy and Chychrun at two and 3 over the forwards picked.

It’s all a crapshoot unless it’s a McDavid/MacKinnon/Matthews etc.

Power is graded the best by virtually everyone at this point. No need to take guess on someone else

Can’t give Goal Cauffield two bites at the apple from there. Dude is Briere like. Disappears and some how winds up alone on the door step.

So were Hischier and Patrick and yet as you have alluded to Makar and Pettersson were the best players in that draft.

Makar was ranked mostly between 7-12 and Colorado took him at 4.

My point is there is no formula here.

All you can go on is the information at hand and none of it says picking anyone over Power is a definitively better way to go.

If Power was just being overhyped and there was someone who’s numbers made him a slam dunk to be better I’d agree. But you can’t even say that about Beniers or Eklund.

If you get a legit offer to move the pick, I’d listen, but it would need to include a future 1st and top end prospect.

You can’t trade a stud D man to pick a bust. It can’t happen, and all these guys have bust potential

Rangers may add Dan Girardi as assistant coach, per the Athletic.
- Powerslave

Dont worry guys the search is fine. It’s not like Girardi had the d-men playing okay.

The Pegulas er I mean Adams has got this.

I’m packaging #1 OA with Eichel and the money will roll right in. All you can do is hope KA reads my takes.

Im of the opinion that this draft is going to be very forgettable so for me I’m open to anything.

I do believe Power is being overhyped.

Eklund also had some pretty eye popping numbers in the SHL this year.

I also don’t know how we cannot sit here and not think of taking Beniers when you can never have enough Center’s in the NHL and we’re about to lose two of them.

However if there is one thing to count on being a Sabres fan the last 10 years is whomever is picking 1-3 picks behind us are going to get a better player so I’m already mentally prepared

I guess I just don’t see it. Dude was fantastic at the worlds and no matter the competition, it’s not easy playing against all professionals, half of them veteran NHL’ers at 18 years old.

And he has multiple coaches and teammates saying he’s the best player they’ve ever played with. You can call it anecdotal, but you’re not hearing those things about any other prospect

I guess my point is saying that “I doubt Power ends up the best player” means very little because that’s most drafts where there isn’t a McDavid/MacKinnon level prospect at #1.

Borderline nhl players vs. Young 18 year old kid.

Top player, key ice times.

Definitely takes defenseman a few years.
Perfect player to develop under donnie.
Play the college season and burn the 1st year for a few game tryout ....

I love it that people are going to rip the first-time GM (I mean, he can't POSSIBLY EVER be good at his job, right?) for possibly losing a first-time assistant coach. I'm sure Dan Girardi never made a mistake during the games he coached last year, right?

The irony.

Am of the opinion that Girardi was the main reason donnie g was successful in making these sabres look like an nhl team.
