Drafting a defenseman #1OA has bad optics when selling tickets to playoff hungry sabres fan's though.

Tough sell picking a defenseman who won't really help for 3 or 4 years.

If the Sabres get the Anaheim pick via an Eichel trade, I'd swap 1st and 2nd with Seattle (which I believe would satisfy the expansion draft requirements. Maybe pick up an additional pick as well) and go

I'm not a prospect expert, but do you mean the floor is higher?

Because Power has the highest ceiling of any player in the draft and I'm not sure it's close.

Interesting. I like Hughes too. I don't think his passing or work along the blue line matches what Power can do but I don't know enough to definitely say so.

I will say personally I wouldn't pass him up for anything less than a substantial overpayment from someone absolutely in love with Power.

I would have to agree with this. But I also believe it goes with what pieces you obtain in a Eichel or Rhino trade.

Me's thinks that if the Sabres could somehow get a NHL goalie I bet we win 10-15 more games last year. The sabres have and had plenty of players that could score, but when your constantly playing catch up it is really hard on the confidence.

I'm not an expert a-tall but I see Hughes as a much more dynamic player. He also needs time and proper development to reach his potential. Whoever drafts him needs to have the patience to bring him along slowly.

He's incredibly young for the draft class and he's super raw but the physical tools are all there

The quote he gave to Mark masters seems to indicate he'd be fine playing here. It's interesting that every time Adams talks about the pick he tries to invite phone calls on it

I would too. He' not doing his job if he's not fielding those, are trying to see what he can get. It's not McDavid, he should be having those discussions. I'm sure most of the offers are sub-par anyway.
