I'm sure kagm wants to make a big time selection, so it makes sense to select at 1OA and 3OA if we trade with anahiem. I agree with hughes at 3 ☝️
Maybe power and hughes 🤔
I'd rather punt maybe until next year and get rid of skimmer. This move would be my #1 offseason move.
Get something in place, seattle comes to mind.
1OA, sam, skimmer to seattle
2022 top ( 3 protected) 1st and 2023 unprotected 1st
The 9th best non goalie on a great team (expansion)
The 4th best defenseman or 8th forward (expansion)
Basically 2022 and 2023 1sts
(2) Kadri / graves type guys
For 1OA , skimmer and sam
Jack, sam and risto are wanted commodities.
No worries there, skimmer is the worry for me - Boss34
Lot to digest here but if the Sabres picked at 1 and 3 that would be a very real consideration for me. In that case, I'd probably bridge Dahlin and open him up to trade offers next year assuming he doesn't progress and Power and Hughes progress in whatever leagues they play in.
Trading a high pick to get rid of Skinner isn't really on my radar if they're trading #9, #23 and #55. They'll have to get to the salary cap floor in that case and the Sabres really need to pick up as many assets as possible

That's just nowhere near enough for me.
You're either giving me your #1 + your best prospect + another 1st or 2nd or you aren't getting Owen Power - sbroads24
Wow, so you're all aboard the Powertrain. That's a hefty boatload of assets |

I bet there are some nhl teams really high on power.
Size, compete, already on full display at the worlds.
Playing big time minutes
Player of the game honors.
Teammates heaping praise on him.
Wonder if scouts were allowed to see him live?
Or did they scout from their couches in Bradenton? 🤔

Let's be realistic, dahlin probably wants out already.
More so if they let donnie go.
Power and hughes pairing would be so Sabres
I didn't include okposo. clearly he will be here forever.
Skimmer though holds us back for years 3-6.
When we should compete 👀

It's the #1 pick, and there's a consensus player there at this point.
If you want him you need to pay.
A Justin Bailey level prospect isn't enough to move down two spots for me

It's gonna be a fun month of speculation.
I believe the last traded 1oa was MAF in '03 so the betting odds are that the Sabres take Power at 1 |

does he? maybe he'd keep you from adding a piece to put you over the top i guess but one bad contract isn't going to hold you back

Adams history shows more likely Fabian Lysell is the pick. I kid, I kid... Hopefully. |

You raise a good point though: if the Sabres want anyone other than Power at 1, they should trade the pick. Someone wants that. And if that someone else is in the top-5, they need to do that.
If they take anyone other than Power at 1, they mismanaged their murrancy |

I think they should pull a George Contanza in that instance. Do the opposite of their instincts, because the opposite will more than likely be the right choice |

Trading the pick for a boatload and than drafting Eklund is the correct thing to do.

My faith in Adams NOT blowing a trade down from #1 is low. The safe and good pick is Power at #1. As Broads and others have said, in a couple of years, having Dahlin and Power on the ice for 50 minutes a game can't be a bad thing.
Swapping out #1 should be only for a king's ransom.

Are you saying there are parallels between Costanza/Steinbrenner and Adams/Pegula?

There would be, if Costanza was hired to be GM, because Adams was like assistant to the traveling secretary or something when he was promoted |

It makes more sense when the first overall pick this year probably would have went 8th overall last year |

If the Sabres are set on going 1st then they obviously need to take Power. If they select anyone else there then they've made a huge, huge mistake.
In a year like this though, I do think there's merit to trading down. Broads is probably right by saying Groulx isn't enough |

There's no chance Sanderson goes before him. Power is the better prospect.

I like Beniers a ton, and I like Eklund a lot, but Power is the best prospect out there, and that Charging Buffalo article today sold it even more for me.
The Sabres got cute to begin the last rebuild. Let's not get cute this time.
Just draft |

Sanderson had better offensive output on a worse team this year. He’s only a few months older than Power.
I was also doing cartwheels when Ottawa took him so Adams didn’t have the chance too
