Honestly, he stands out in every game because he skates around at million MPH and hits people. That's just his style. He's an energy guy for sure. But I also feel like he's one of those annoying gnats that doesn't do a ton of "damage" but just annoys you lol and none of that is a dig on Tanev at all.

Tanev is not a player you measure by fancy stats, that's for sure, nor do I think every player's value can be measure by fancy stats.

You absolutely should be looking at his stats while evaluating him as a player, along with watching video.

Think. Zucker is the better player, if you have the opportunity to take a top 6 guy or a bottom 6 guy, I think you'd be dumb to take the bottom 6 guy.

I don't disagree, but we don't know what other players will be available to Seattle. They'll definitely want their share of younger cheap quality players. ZAR may make more sense depending on what's on the board for them.

No way it hurt as much as watching Jarry....

PPL actually care if Tanev stays? He's pretty vanilla. Now if he dropped the gloves in a meaningful game (Talbot) thats a different story.

Non Trades: Crosby, Letang, Guetz, Malkin (unless you cant turn it down)

The rest of the team is softer than butter and destined to be 1st round bounces for the remainder on Crosbys career.

I wonder if Jake McCabe should be a target for the Pens this offseason for the 2nd/3rd LD if they can dump Petts/Matheson. 6'1" 220 lbs. Has the size to move bodies. In the 96th percentile for EV defense. 78% for PK.

Zucks has Kraken fodder written all over him to me hahah

I can't believe they would leave him exposed. Everyone here is down on him but he is a legit top 6 forward. They should be trading him for a decent return before just letting him get taken.

By all means, if they can, I'm all for the trade, if they can find a good hockey trade, they absolutely should. He should still have value, I just don't want to see him with Geno anymore. Hell I'd even keep him if Sully would play him with Sid or even Carter but Sully is stubborn when it comes to line changes.

Wasn't there a season where he would throw lines in the blender? I could have sworn he did that during the 2017 cup.

Cap space is super important for us right now. Completely wiping $5.5 million is more valuable than a lot of the things we'd possibly get back for him in a trade. For example, The Wild didn't just get a 1st and a prospect when we traded for him. They had to take on the complete dead weight cap of Galch. We can't really do that if we have any hope of doing anything next season.

If someone wants to give us picks and prospects and just absorb Zucker completely then sure, no doubt trade him before expansion. But if we need to take back a mid tier contract of a player that isn't going to help us much in order to get those futures back, we need to think long and hard.

I don't think there was a single game in the Cup Finals against Nash where the lines were the same as they were in the previous game. Hornqvist played on all four lines and at one point Hagelin got scratched. It was wild.

Matheson getting selected would be the most ideal situation. Obviously it won't, but man, that would make the Pens' lives so much easier.

Those 3 combined for 23 goals this past season...a 33 pace over 82 games....Rust had 22 goals this past season....
- MattStrat

They all missed a good amount of time. Playing them against other teams good players gives Rust a better opportunity to score more goals.

Here's the with or without you stats if anyone wants to peep them.

That line wasn't really that great at limiting opportunities.

They did go 6-0 GF/GA though.

What kind of opportunities? We’re they rushed because that line plays good in the D zone like the Islanders?

How about Kevan Miller for 3rd pairing RD?

Tanev is entertaining to watch. Fans love him and it's a ticket selling business. I really hope he's back next year.

One of the reasons I feel he could excel with some higher skill guys is he hounds the puck relentlessly. Defenses have to make quicker decisions when he's flying into the corner. Create a turnover and give it to someone who knows what to do with it instead of ZAR and his "hands of stone".

I really hate how Sullivan refuses to experiment with players these days. Everybody is pigeonholed. He did that constantly in his first couple of years and won a couple of cups, but no more. It drives me nuts.

Completely agree. And I'm definitely not saying Tanev should or has to be moved. I think he's a decent player, still think he's overpaid, but I do think he is entertaining to watch and fans love him. I think he's effective at times, but also think he's less effective than people think he is.

Definitely agree on that last part. Sully's stubbornness is infuriating.
