Are you trying to get the fans hopes up? Plus Ian Clark hand picked MD. Wouldn't let Benning trade him.

Five more years of Demko suggests DiPietro will never actually get the net. Could he be more valuable after another year in the AHL? Maybe.

More great asset management by Benning.
- manvanfan

Lol bad asset management is handing out contracts to players that don’t deserve it. Save the contract spot

Let him get to back up level behind Demko. That would be max value if his numbers are good.

He also did a nice job in the playoffs clearing the crease, if he goes then who does that?
- Nucker101

That's it, I can't take it anymore! What you said above is absolutely (frank)ing stupid. Myers has been alright offensively (no argument there) but it's well understood that he's a defensive liability. In fact, he's a (frank)ing nightmare in his own zone.

No, he does not do a "nice job" in front of the net. He doesn’t tend to engage opposing forwards at the net front at all.

He's the 2nd worst d-man in the NHL in shots against and dead last in expected goals against. Opponents feast on opportunities from the high slot with Myers on the ice at 5 on 5. It turns truly dreadful when Myers is paired with Quinn. The pair’s expected goals percentage (38%) is terrible and they have surrendered nine goals while only scoring two with that pairing on the ice and they are giving up just under 17.5 high danger chances per 60. Of all the pairings in the NHL who’ve played ~100 minutes together, that’s the 2nd worst rate in the league.

Don’t care about those charts. What I saw was a veteran dman who the coaching staff trusted with big minutes and important minutes. To me that’s not a bad player, if anything I’d bet the coaches would like another player they could have similar confidence in

Gallant NYR new coach.

So are the Rangers a fair comparison to the Canucks rebuild timeline for results?

Seems like a reasonable hire (better than going w Torts)

I suppose they are a good comparison in some ways.
Both teams have some good prospects/core players and both sucked last year.

The NYR cleared house of mgmt and coaches this year, while Vancouver tinkered.

I do agree that the systems could use some adjustments. Green/Baumer are still young coaches so adding a vet like Shaw behind the bench should help

Those same charts say that Matt Grzlecyk is an elite dman, Victor Hedman is average and Seth Jones is a 3rd pairing dman
