JGP didn’t play the last 13 minutes of the third. Has an issue and at 4-1 Barry had him rest it.
As I said he just didn’t look like himself this game. - nyisles7
I didn't realize this. Devastating if its a lingering issue |

Barry referenced this in his post-game. Said he expects him to be fine to finish the series. |

I saw it in his play. Just didn’t have the same puck pursuit, pesky forecheck and speed.
I just hope he’s gonna be alright because as you said that would be a huge loss to overcome. |

I thought I saw a little showmanship by Killorn (tapping Varly’s back with his stick) after the Hedman goal but I chalked it up to it being coincidental, but they were discussing it on NHL radio on Sirius so I wonder if this becomes a thing. |

Tampa is a veteran team that has won it all. They know how to push the right buttons and play the game. Maroon also last night. Islanders have to keep it together and brush it off to get ready for the next game. They’ll do exactly that. |

I know it’s not really the islanders game but they have to start throwing more pucks on net. They have to get in the paint and Vasi’s face to try and get some greasy goals. The guy is so good and dialed in right now have to look for some deflections instead of trying to thread the needle every time they’re in their zone. |

Yeah also need to change angles, move pucks laterally and try to adjust timing of shots if possible. For example if Palm holds that puck a split second longer then shoots he gets that puck over Vasi - the one where he robbed 21. I realize easier said then done. They got the better of us last night we need to be much better tomorrow. |

Problem is Tampa was great with getting sticks and bodies in the passing lanes. That’s going to be tough to do if they continue to play that way. We were also a bit tentative and over thinking a bit imo which lead to passes blocked and turnovers. Bailey had quite a few egregious giveaways especially in the third period Telegraphing to the arena pretty much where he was going with a pass.
We were also way to weak in the neutral zone and allowed Tampa’s transition game to really excel while being to passive on our own blue line imo. Overall not a great game for us. I guess you can say we were in it for the most part so that’s a positive against one of if not best teams in the league while we’re not performing at our best. I feel confident we’ll shake it off and get it done tomorrow. |

Seemed like the team as a whole was off last night. I'm sure Trotz will make adjustments and get them ready for tomorrow night. The crowd will be nuts so that helps too. Gonna be a good one... |

Wahlstrom is ready to go. Could you see him in the lineup these home games. Trotz was very mad with the to many men on the ice non call. 7 men on the ice what a joke. |

Morning everyone.
That was, without a doubt, the worst officiating I have seen in a game.
Absolute and utter pile of monkeypoop.
I don't give a single phuck who ended up winning the game. The officiating ruined my enjoyment of it.
The Point penalty was the beginning, but it didn't get better when the refs realized their phuckup and started calling soft penalties on the Isles.
Now we will never know how the game would have turned out if the players had been left to decide the outcome. Instead, the refs decided it.
Imagine for a moment that you are watching the playoffs in any other major sport. Now imagine a MLB umpire who doesn't know the difference between a ball and a strike. How long would that ump keep his job if a pitcher beaned a batter in the face and the ump called it a strike?
I've been watching NHL games for almost 30 years and the officiating has been poor (at best) for the entirety of that time. It's inexcusable. It's beer league. It's a phucking disgrace. And it makes me want to quit watching hockey.

Refs definitely sucked. The to many men miss followed by those phantom calls was a big momentum swing it seemed. With that said I thought overall Tampa was the better team. Our defense was uncharacteristically bad in so many words. Pelech and Pulock were both subpar which is unusual. Forwards were to tentative and nobody really pushed the play when they needed to imo. So yeah refs sucked 100% but we kinda did also. |

I'm not saying the outcome would've been different but that too many men was a huge swing. The Isles should've been on the PP, instead they are down a goal. Even if the Isles wouldn't score on that PP it puts Tampa on their heels. There is a good chance that it's 1-1 going into the 3rd and it's anyone's game.
That was an absolute disgrace. IMO there should be fines for something like that. |

The Point call... the Refs usually make that call b/c they don't want it to be free range on the Goalies. They started to make that call back when Kreider took out Price in the playoffs years ago... Could Point have avoided running into Varly? Maybe and maybe not.. he certainly didn't curl up or try to jump out of the way... but regardless they have to make that call or you would see Martin doing the same...."I was just going to the net and the D-man pushed me off my skates" the very next shift. If you go flying into the goalie... you are going to get a penalty.. period. |
