lindgren is one of those players who's probably more valuable on the team that anything we could approach in a trade. i often think about who we'd move to make room for players like nils and robertson and anytime lindgren comes accross my mind i immediately dismiss the notion. he's not the best defenseman on a team but he is a guarantee to hold it down every night and plays with heart.

So what are we thinking with Gallant, i'm not back reading, much more up tempo offense?

Like the hire a lot. Given who was available I think they made the right call. Seems odd the Rangers haven’t formally announced the hire yet, but looking forward to hearing him speak about the construction of the team and how he expects the team to play. Hope he can get more out of Kreider and a few other guys.

Really excited for the off-season now to see what moves are made. I really trust Drury to find the right balance between speed/skill/grit.

My only worry is he never lasted more than 3 years in any of his past jobs. Just seems odd for such a good coach like everyone says.

Yeah, I thought that was odd too. Especially leaving him at the curb to get a taxi in FL

i think he's probably a better skater, not quite as good defensively as G in his prime (yet), and has more offensive upside (not saying much. i seriously think he's learned a lot from Fox already). He also looks like more of a fiery personality as opposed to the quiet, reserved G

When he got fired in FL there was video of him standing outside waiting for a taxi or something. I'm sure it wasn't as bad as the video made it seem, but the optics....

I just meant to your point he is better for your team than whatever you could get in a trade. That was Girardi for the Rangers. Never the best defensemen but always needed

But yea that is my biggest hesitation. There has to be a reason, does he try to get too much power? Just gets bored after 3 years? I want a coach who is in for the long haul. Rangers are about to enter their contention window. I don't want to change systems 3 years into it lol

I wonder if letting Fast go is one of the things Dolan was annoyed at Gorton/JD about
- jimbro83

I don't think Dolan was involved with the team enough to understand the true value of Fast to the squad.

I am sure Dolan was annoyed by $13 mill in dead cap ( almost $18 mill if you include Tony D'Angelo ) and no incoming playoff revenue for a 4th year. THAT is what led to the housecleaning...

Yup. Just need a team that brings it every night. With their offense it shouldn't be an issue. Hopefully with one season under their belt and adding Gallant we see that grit.

I think the Vegas firing was more due to McPhee and McCrimmon liking DeBoer and when he became available they jumped on him. Vegas was going through a rough point in their season and gallant let a reporter have it after he was asked about the team beating the "bad" teams and losing to teams ahead of them in the standings. He was essentially telling the guy he was an idiot and that all teams in the NHL are good. He was fired shortly after that. Could be unrelated but I always thought that management used that as an opportunity to bring in their guy.

That's a fair description of the Rangers' season. He'd better be able to handle the media scrutiny he didn't have in Vegas, Florida, or Columbus.

Can't wait to see K' Andre use his physicality next year. Think this was a settling in year for him and he was fantastic. Add the physical side and he is going to be a monster. And if anyone suggests trading him, they will be prison shanked
