How often does an employer pay someone over 5 million dollars, just to sit home??

Must have been a small problem somewhere.

Sorry Jim, I had to respond.

3 years. $1.8 million per. Took less to make sure support staff all got contracts.

Rod Brind’Amour: “I want to make a point, here. I feel like the richest coach in the world. I don’t know how many coaches can do their job where they live, where they’re from, where they’ve had a footprint on everything...the commitment we have from Tom: he wants to win.”

- BINGO!

I mean to be fair, he also made over $50 million in his career as a player lol

exactly lol

This is why I keep saying i don't think it would work for him anywhere else. Dude really only wanted the one job. I don't think he wants to do this for 15 years or whatever.

What 3 defensemen you think Carolina are protecting?

Slavin, Pesce, Bean.

My big brain theory is that they're letting Hamilton talk to other teams now so that they can have the entire process worked out by the time the expansion draft comes around and sign him immediately after.

Of course, if Hamilton does sign before then, they'll protect him and risk losing Bean.

Think they’ll try and trade Skjei or are they ok with him being the guy for Seattle

they'll be fine with him going to Seattle if that's the way it goes.

Really thought he'd turn it around but doesn't look like it. He has all the tools but he just seems kinda dumb. Never has any patience with the puck.

Amazing how far he’s fallen. His first 2 years he looked like a lock to be McDonagh 2.0. Played a very simple and aggressive game.

It is not that far fetched to think that Seattle’s defense will have Skjei, Mcdonagh, Graves and Shattenkirk. LOL

I remember having debates here over whether Skjei or Slavin was better.

they went in two totally different directions.

Brady will still catch a guy with a monster hit once in a while, but he can't get the puck out of his own end. Just defaults to throwing it up the boards any time he feels pressure and it's a mess.

For sure and ekholm was just an example, but in that example lets say we give them Jones. That doesn't add to the logjam of D and gives us a solid D for this year to pair with Lundkvist. Again I'm not saying that should be the deal or that it's a fair deal but having open protection slots can be used as leverage the same way having extra cap space can be so I'd hope Drury can exploit that a bit.
- SkjeiStadium

I saw a proposal on another site where we traded Jones to Tampa for Sergachev for the exact reasons you mentioned earlier. Jones doesn't need to be protected in the expansion draft and Tampa gets some cap relief too.
It certainly makes for some great "out of the box" thinking and strategy...

I feel like the majority of people saw that was going to blow up in Montreal's face on day 1.
I felt that way, but with no evidence, tbh.
