According to Sportsnet analyst Shane O'Brien on today's Steve Kouleas Powerplay podcast Matthew Tkachuk might want out of Calgary.

I was reading that a few weeks ago and since then I’ve read 1 or 2 more articles on it. Apparently his teammates don’t like his style of play and they had a closed door meeting telling him to cool it on the rough stuff. I guess those reports of all the guys on that team being soft were true. I’d take him in a heartbeat, problem would be what would he cost.

Kills me to root for the Isles. Rooting for them based on the "Lightning Loophole", hoping they get swept by Vegas but Tampa is strong.

I want Vegas to win it all, before the Canes got knocked out though that’s who I was rooting for.

Seriously?! That's nuts! How soft can a team be when they don't want a team mate standing up for them or adding some grit?
This is hockey dammit!

This isn’t the same article I read but says similar

From nearly the start of the season, many began to question Tkachuk’s leadership on this team as well as his relationship with his teammates. This stemmed from an incident that occurred just five games into the season when Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin flipped a puck at the Flames forward right after the game had ended.

This made Tkachuk irate, and he was quick to stand up for himself, but many took note of the fact none of his teammates seemed very eager to come and help him out. To make matters even worse, when they finally did make their way back, no one went after Muzzin at all, despite the fact that Tkachuk was clearly furious with him.

Now, of course, none of us truly know what things are like inside the Flames’ dressing room. Perhaps this was absolutely nothing, and there are no issues. However, some sources with real credibility, including former NHL defenceman Rhett Warrener, were on record this season saying they believe there are some real issues inside the locker room. This situation against the Leafs certainly seems to help back that claim up.

TOO TOO much for a position we really dont need help with.

It would probably empty like half the cupboard.

The other problem is his contract. His qualifying offer when it expires next year is 9m per, that would absolutely cripple us in any attempt to fix our deficiencies at center.

The other problem with Tkachuk is his qualifying offer is 9 million, he’s not worth 9 million just yet.

Beat me to it about the contract. I agree, the cost in both trade and contract would be to much.

I dont understand all the Tampa hating. They used a loophole a lot of teams have used one way or another. Chicago and the Blues most recently. How about all the teams that use IR to get to the cap floor or other teams using IR to get other players?? Just because it has worked out so far, not their fault. I can never root for the Piles. Sorry.

If the article has any merit, then there is a lot more going on than just being too rough. If there was a players meeting on it, then he must be some kind of locker room problem. I doubt they dont like him cause they say his style is too rough.

Did anyone "attend" the press conference for Gallant's introduction?
