In all seriousness he might be the best candidate unless they are looking to put that pressure on Laf. |

Look what happened to the last two players to wear the C.
My money is on Kreider because of how long he's been here, but I think I'd like Trouba. Laf is not anywhere near ready.
Rooney is the obvious choice though. |

Kreider does not fit the role of a captain. Captain’s show up every day, they dont disappear for days and weeks at a time. Kreider has demon’s of his own that he has yet to work out. Its a shame because if the Kreider we know showed up every game, he’d be one of the best players in the league. |

Completely agree with everything you stated. This is exactly why I don't want him to be Captain although length of service with NYR might be what earns him that spot.
I still think one of those demons, perhaps the biggest, is Price. He wasn't the same player after that. |

Yup, he was never the same player and never played with the same consistency. Maybe Gallant can free him of that |

We can only hope, however, hes still an important part of the PP. |

Yeah, bad on that play, but he's been pretty solid otherwise. Fleury also over committed on the goal. |

They battle hard, they dominated Vegas the first two periods and shut it down in the third. That’s playoff hockey |

I'm sure the captain will be Trouba, he's the best choice
I think we'd all love a guy like Matt Tkachuk, he's unlike any player we have, unlike any player we have ever had really
he's just gonna cost Kakko+ and then the Rangers would have so much invested in 4 left wings (Panarin, Kreider, Lafreniere and Tkachuk) they'd really have to have a plan for how that would work
it's hard to picture it as a possibility |

Its physical cost in assets, as well as financial cost in terms of contract. I think it does more harm than good and might actually hurt us more than help. |

I think he'd be a very good target if we didn't have Panarin
if the cap was going up to 100 million, i'd be like hell yeah, just do it, but they need to be smart about where they spend their cap
Panarin is is 11.642 million a year, it's huge, it's hard to picture paying a guy like 9 million who plays the same position, especially when we got Lafreniere's 2nd NHL deal on the horizon and Kreider's 6.5 mil a year
Granted, Tkachuk as a player is so much different than those guys but it's hard to see the puzzle pieces fitting

Paying a guy 9m, plus having to resign Zib and Fox in the same year. Meanwhile, not addressing the pressing need at center because we would have exhausted what were comfortable trading for Tkachuk. |

it's pretty well known that Matt Tkachuk wants to get traded to St Louis anyway, they just seem like a team without the assets to trade that Calgary would want
