THANK GOD - ELew11
Making it to game 7 in the semis and come out with that effort and lose on a shorthanded goal |
|
|
|
That goodrow play at the end of the game is all I needed to see for the rangers to target him |

I had been thinking that Tampa would probably not protect McDonagh in expansion draft but after the way he's played, I cannot see them leaving him exposed
I think they'll protect Hedman, Sergachev and McDonagh and either leave Cernak exposed or trade Cernak before expansion draft
Seattle would grab Cernak in a second - jimbro83
That may be the case, but they have to be smart about their finances and future. Anyway, he has to approve to waive his NTC to be exposed. |

I'm pretty sure a NTC does not affect availability for the Expansion draft. A NMC would need to be waived

If thats the case, they may have found a way out of the Tyler Johnson contract. |

no, McDonagh doesn't have to waive anything, that's only if he had a NMC
Tampa is free to expose McDonagh to the expansion draft if they want to, he only has a NTC not a NMC |

I just don't see why Seattle would want Tyler Johnson

I liked McDonagh when he was here but I agreed with the move to trade him. Couldn't believe the Bolts gave him that contract. But goddam, he's still franking awesome. His play is phenomenal with the amount of shots he blocks. Happy for him, hope he wins another cup, he deserves it. |

Expansion lists are due 3 weeks from today. |
|
|
|
Exempt
LAF Kakko Kravtsov Barron Miller Fox Reuanen Shesty Nils Jones
Protected on defense
Trouba Lindgren
Protected on offense
Panarin Zib Kreider(NMC) Chytil Buch Strome
The decisions come down to who to protect with that 3rd defenseman spot, will it be TonyD? Hajek? Trade for someone at a discount that a team would otherwise lose for nothing? Could make Jones attractive to some teams that are in a tight spot on D with the draft.
Then on offense it’s who do you protect with that last spot, Rooney Gauthier or Blackwell? Blackwell exceeded expectations but I don’t see him in the top 9 anymore with the addition of Kravtsov. Between Rooney and Gauthier who will it be? |

I am hoping that Gallant will be able to unlock the potential in Gauthier. I don't care about losing Rooney or Blackwell in the expansion draft. I just hope Gauthier is protected. |

DeAngelo will most certainly get bought out. I cant imagine the Kraken will want to go into their inaugural season with controversy. Did Bitetto play enough games these last 2 years to be left exposed?
I think Blackwell has a little trade value so Id protect him. Rooney is a solid depth guy. Gauthier unfortunately seems to be the odd man out. He will likely never get a top 6 role, and eventhough hes got the size, hes not exactly that grit/sandpaper kind of player we need for the bottom 6. |

As of now they have to expose both Rooney and Blackwell.
You are required to expose two forwards who are signed to a contract in 2021-22.
Despite how well both of them played, ultimately I think this was the reason they were signed in first place. |

I personally like the idea of acquiring a defenseman to be the 3rd defenseman the Rangers protect, somebody on a short term deal like Morgan Rielly or Ryan Graves.
Protecting Hajek is basically a waste |

The guy from Toronto.
Im not against a move like that, but I feel someone like Oleksiak is a better move for us. |

if they acquire Morgan Rielly, he’s only got one year left so if the team isn’t that good they could probably recoup some of what they give up for him at deadline
Could be lightning in a bottle pickup
Really depends on the price and if they want to start Zac Jones in Hartford |

He’s not a 3rd pairing defenseman. He puts up points, Is young, and is on a cheap contract. Don’t think he’s the one for us |

We’ll see. I think there is definitely gonna be some sniffing around teams who have trouble protecting only 3 defensemen |
