I think we are forgetting that part of the fun of being a fan for a team that sucks enough to not be in the playoffs is we get to speculate on who we would like them to target in the off season. I see nothing wrong with making mock lineups.

Since I'm a Rangers fan from back in the early 90's I can remember many off seasons of sucking where I used to fantasize about who they would bring in. The universe didn't care about my pleas to have Fedorov or Modano come here. They did get Bure but that was the worst tease of all time.

What I'm saying is let people discuss the team they're a fan of however they like and unless they're a huge Richard about it I'll be willing to banter back. I know we all get a little testy, especially with the lack of a postseason but that is about to come to an end.

Of course. I have no problem with the theory of it.
I just like WAY to many of our draft selections and recent acquisitions to want to see 4 or 5 new players this year.
I'm sure there will be a big move, but I'd like just the one for a center and then 1 or maybe 2 smaller moves for grit.

It's because the Rangers told them to (frank) off and are inking a deal involving Sheifele.

Which is what I believe will happen. You can't completely discount some wholesale changes if Danal is involved though. I hope he goes back to micromanaging the Knicks and leaves the Rangers alone.

On a related note. Can eliminated teams start trading? Or do they have to wait?

I agree, a center and a few bottom 6 pieces.

But I also think they get another left handed D man.

He doesn't and he is completely redundant. It's a shame but that's how it goes sometimes.

I think what irks most of us is the losing him for "nothing" part and I get it.

Try to look at the positives, there are a lot of them. I just want the damn playoffs to end so the real crazy season can start.

That’s the thing. It’s not Girardi for example. Good asset management is not letting go a good player just because there is no room for him.

Start Nils in Hartford...deangelo plays 40-50 games, gets like 80 pts lol and you deal him pre or at the TDL

Unless they absolutely need his 4 million off the books, I think it’s a very dumb idea to buy him out. Because teams just need to see him play and be a good soldier before making a deal for him probably.

RHD is almost as important as a center on your roster, to get nothing for a player like TD other than cap relief, is flat out stupid imo 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rangers management and the coach getting fired did nothing to change the fact that the organization has moved on from Tony D

it's wishful thinking to believe other wise

It's a chance to free up 4.4 million in cap space. The Rangers have other needs other than a RHD. What if he comes back and its the same stuff. They could have used that money elsewhere.

I think it's a lot of money to play with in an unpredictable market. If they were thinner on D it would make a lot less sense. It will be addition by subtraction with one of either Lundkvist or Schneider breaking camp with the team and all of that cap hit being funneled into a top 6 center.

Who is a comparable great-offense/shyte-defense NHLer? Tyson Barrie is not nearly as bad defensively as DeAngelo. Yandle? He got benched down the stretch this season.

Yeah but the main difference is the Rangers have this player.
