Kulak must have 10 shots in the opposing forward's pads yesterday.
- Scabeh

You know how they say: If you didn't notice your defenseman all that much, that means he did a pretty good job since he most likely didn't do any glaring mistakes.
I noticed Kulak yesterday. Alot.

Seriously, the guys rotating on that 3rd pairing, well the quality really drops.
...And I'm including Romanov in the lot. The guy is young, he needs time to develop, but things are going pretty fast for him right now.
Petry not being available really hurts them. |

Oh yes, Romanov is having troubles too. But you'd expect that from a young player like him. He'll get better and this is valuable experience.
Petry coming back would be a huge boost to the defense, no doubt about it.

Overall you're probably right.
But it's a fact the powerplay has only worked so far with Gus in the lineup.
So we need a spot for him.

Hey, I have a dumb question.
Do these guys fly back to mtl for games 3 and 4, or do they stay in Vegas? |

i thought everyone was being a little too cool about Petry being out. i think his importance was highlighted last night. Kulak can step in as a temporary top 4 against a lot of teams, but clearly not a team like Vegas. |

They had a special permission from the government. |

Oh you meant the players? Sorry Pete. Even though in fairness you did warn us, I never could have imagined the question would be this stupid. |

Not sure I share your optimism Karine.
While the Canadiens looked good in the first, Vegas looks like they play the same style on steroids, with more energy, more size, more speed and more skill. The penalties definitely had an impact, but after playing a Winnipeg team that had no energy whatsoever, the Habs looked like they were tired after one period of having to skate hard against a relentless team that never dropped in intensity throughout the game.
Against a team that pressures and backchecks hard, our big slow D are never able to carry the puck out. They plant their feet and send long obvious passes to forwards who are alone with no support coming in the offensive zone. This was obvious by how hard it seemed to be to enter the Vegas zone.
I'm looking forward to game two to see if Vegas can maintain the same energy level, but so far it doesn't look good pour nos habitants.

you know what's nonsense as well? all those penalties last night lol... tomorrow should be a different story, they barely got to challenge MAF, except for a few nice saves that game was way too easy for him

They play in Montreal Friday and Sunday. And one of my friends is irate at them and the NHL for being able to fly in and out without any mandatory quarantine. |

Fleury reminds me of Brodeur. Great goaltender, but he never really played for bad teams either...aside from maybe at the beginning in Pittsburgh. |

Fleury didn't impress me yesterday.
Don't get me wrong, he got the job done. And made some key saves especially in the first.
But there's a good 5 times where he completely lost sight of the puck after making the initial save. It miraculously stayed under him or outside the net despite him moving like a maniac trying to find it.
With just a little luck, 1-2 of them go in the net.
We can win this.
