Maybe we could draft Quenville or Mateau again? |

The draft is a crap-shoot, this year probably more so then ever. But moving 4OA? unless the name is Dahlin or Heiskanen or Drysdale coming back I would have no interest in that (and they would not be available). Seth Jones, no thanks. Dumba, no thanks. Who else could be available? |

I wouldn't even do it for Drysdale. The only D i'd move it for are Dahlin, Heiskanen, Chychrun, Chabot, Werenski, Sergachev, McAvoy, Makar, and Theodore. And none of them are being moved. So hopefully Fitz doesn't do something dumb. |

No arguments here. I believe Fitz is smart. But Friedman is usually pretty good with his rumors. We shall see what gives way. |

Yeah Fitz hasnt done anything to make me think he would do something dumb. But the constant comments coming from the higher ups in the org about wanting to get bigger and stronger on the blue line, combined with the rumors of being interested in Risto, it just makes me feel like a bad move could possibly be made.
Either way, it seems very clear that there will be a move made prior to the expansion draft or during the entry draft to try to bolster the D, so we just gotta sit back and wait to see what happens |

No thanks Seth Jones?? Maybe I'm missing something, but I remember him being a minutes monster for Columbus in the playoffs last year. |

Jones is pretty overrated tbh. He's brutal analytically and has been on the decline every year since the 17-18 season. Someone is going to overpay and massively regret it, and i'd be incredibly annoyed if it was us.
And you cant use the "Columbus bad team" excuse for Jones having absolutely horrible analytics like some people try to, because Werenski, Gavrikov, Murray, and Savard(defensively) all had very good numbers on the same teams. Columbus was just a better team without Jones on the ice than with him. |

Also Jones being bad defensively on a team that is all about defensive structure and constantly plays with other strong defensive players is really telling. He's also going to be the next mega defenseman contract that will age poorly overnight. |

3. Still hearing a lot of Philadelphia and Jones. The Flyers are definitely working at it.
-Friedman's 31 thoughts
Seems like the perfect fit seeing that Flyers have been trying to overpay a defenseman for years.
6. Another name I’ve heard: Nashville’s Viktor Arvidsson. Tough, hard-working player. Three years left at $4.25 million.
Arvidsson has great possession metrics but his scoring rates are way down. Wonder if that is a factor to Duchene and Johansson having bad seasons recently. Preds are a team that definitely want to make moves and change their roster and might be able to get a player like Arvidsson for cheap seeing that he is 28 and has three years left on the contract. |

Others have said it better than me. Plus, why pay 4OA for a one year rental, he wants to got to FA and pick his team. No thanks. |

Agreed, if he isnt willing to extend with us, not even worth the consideration. I'd like to see us compete for a playoff spot, but we wont be contenders next year. There is no reason to give up assets for Jones to leave next summer.
With an added level of uncertainty in this draft, i'd rather we trade the 28th for a pick next year or a player who can help now(and later). What do you guys think about Laine? I know he isnt perfect. Super enigmatic, coming off a bad year, He would be a possible buy low candidate, he has a big body and capable goal scoring hands. I know the effort/compete level doesn't seem to be there on his 200ft game, but we need somebody capable to play with Hughes/Hischier on the top line. There is nothing wrong with having a player on your roster that is only good at scoring goals. He also is going to be an RFA and after last year will not be commanding top dollar. His age also fits what we are building. A prove it short term deal may be beneficial to both parties..... |

Laine has his warts, but he is a goal scorer. Personally I like the player. Problem is his deal is up at the end of the year and he has a 7.5 million dollar qualifying offer (so that's the floor of the negotiations). That is more than the captain Nico gets and probably puts a floor on Hughes' next deal. Not worth the assets to acquire and then the salary implications after.
