100% brutal call. - nyisles7
Yeah not Sergachevs fault Palmieri is a little female dog. |

I was at the game. A question. Should Trotz challenge the point goal. |

No. Greene or whoever pushed Cirelli into Varlamov. |

I would say Leo's presence on the first line has had little to no impact on the Isles success during these playoffs and could likely be improved upon by one of multiple players.
I unfortunately think it's more likely Wahlstrom replaces Zajac on Pageaus line than Leo on Barzals line. That said, I'm fine with Leo remaining in the lineup, but there is no way in hell he should be playing the Tampa Bay Lightning on your top scoring line. - keaner17
Wow really believe in the team aspect huh.
I definitely don’t think in the same breath that it’s Leo being on Barzal’s line that made us lose in the first 2 rounds, oh wait
Barzals line isn’t the top scoring line. That would be The B line followed by JGP’s line.
Leo is on Barzals line. We have won two rounds with the line like that. I find it comical that when the Islanders loose a couple games against The Pens the The Bs and now The Bolts, it’s the same narrative about Leo being on that line. Then when they win it’s really ok and not mentioned. It is what it is and the coach feels this is the best lineup right now to win with. The pissing and moaning about it isn’t going to change it.
Would I love Lee back, of course and who knows as I said before it wasn’t revealed (like every other injury) how bad it was. Sucks we don’t have him because it would truly make a difference without disrupting the other 3 lines Trotz is throwing out there.
This series isn’t over, let’s have some faith. |

What surprised me was the way Tampa beat the Islanders. They gave the Islanders nothing in the third period. They suffocated the islanders. |

Between Tampa having the pp they do and it more then likely not overturning the goal no. |

We’ve been here before. Like every series so far so I wouldn’t jump off a bridge just yet. The Lightning beat us at our own game last night and we didn’t have an answer. With that said I thought we were evenly matched up with them in the 2nd and outplayed them in the third for the most part. The problem to me was we lacked urgency in the first and the chances we did get the rest of the game we couldn’t bury. We outplayed them but I still felt most of our chances weren’t of the high quality variety. That tiny bit of hesitation in our game was our undoing imo. Yeah Tampa deserves all of the credit in the world because their man to man coverage gave us zero time but the islanders have to answer that with quick, decisive, passing, and play making. Again, just like game 2 I believe we’re capable even against this team.
If we’re going to have a chance this series we need the Nelson line to step up. For the 2nd consecutive game they were not good. The Barzal line was working out there but I’ve kind of given up on them being big contributors save when Barzal is away from you know who. Pageau line looked better especially Palmieri who fires the puck from anywhere and the 4th line was our best line last night imo. The Nelson line needs to wake up and that needs to change for us to have a shot this series.
Also, not sure if Wahlstrom gets a look next game? I thought Zajac played pretty well and trotz may stick with him. With that said I think his shot could be a big help especially on the pp. I don’t think we’re scoring to many pretty goals against Vasi the guy is an absolute wall… |

Why were you surprised? They have the best d man in the league and mcdoughna is a legit top 2 guy as well. They are the champs for a reason and they can play wide open, special teams, physically or boring |

It really was a terrible call - Upstate_isles
It was a terrible call that lead to the game winning goal. When Larry Brooks hammers the refs on the islanders behalf you know it’s bad. Between game 2 and now 3 not really a good look for the NHL not that they care. With that said we needed to find a way and we didn’t. |

I don't care if they are gonna call that then do it everytime or not at all but to call something that marginal is absurd in a tie playoff game |

Tampa is a great team and the Cup champs but it's going to be real tough if we lose to them again regardless if we give them a tough time. Very difficult to get back to this level a 3rd year in a row. Series is not over but the Islanders are not giving their best and not going with their best possible lineup right now. |

Agreed. Right after their goal there was blatant interference I forgot on who that they let go followed by multiple other missed interference calls. Missed trip on palmieri. When is that ever called in the playoffs? It’s like the refs are helping Tampa leverage their powerplay. Either call everything or put your whistles away and let them play. Both teams. |

Yep the islanders are going to have to bring another level of play we haven’t seen in this series yet. If they don’t they’re done. |

Isles are in huge trouble if the 2nd line continues to give them nothing and Leo continues on that first line. Only so much a coach can do during the game. Teams cannot trade for players during the game but one thing the coach can do is mix up the lines to try to get something going. Barry is a wonderful coach but he is slow to want to shake things up. We saw that in the Canes series a few years ago. Changing up the lines is not a panic move and especially against Tampa you try everything and anything to get something going and you at least give Tampa different look. |

We were pushing the play in the third but giving the lines a different look in spots isn’t such a bad idea. Trotz gave Barzal a couple looks without Leo in the third so it’s not like he didn’t do it. |

Even getting pushes is not enough. It's all about scoring. This is the 2nd year in the row the Isles have struggled to score against Tampa. I get Tampa is an elite team but the Isles have gotten this far twice in the a row and you cannot just throw your hands up and say there is nothing we can do. Boston was beat up on defense so what worked against Boston is not going to work against Tampa. Even Butchie said it last night. If I have to lose again to Tampa it's not going to be with Leo on the 1st or being afraid to change things up. |

I would have liked to have seen the outcome of this game if the refs had remained invisible.
Why they needed to interject their presence into it is baffling. Ya, so he pulls a Tampa player out of a scrum (for no reason - these scrums are pretty much the norm in playoffs) and the Isles score. Great. But now you know WE ALL KNOW an even up penalty is coming. And it did. And they scored. And that's that.
Just...don't.

They only put away the whistles when it severely benefits the leagues favorite teams. See 2011 eastern conference finals game 7. |
