"The biggest obstacle to my evil plan here is whether Pettersson would want to leave Vancouver for Philadelphia, but it’s not hard to see the reasoning behind why they might."
"It would be difficult to successfully pull this transaction off, but it present no real downside for the Flyers and plenty of opportunity." - RealityChecker
If a team like the Flyers did do that, at least the Canucks would get 2 shots at winning the draft lottery in 2022, maybe they win both spots and get to pick 1 and 2.😁 |

I think 17-18 or 18-19 was the low point. I have no doubt that it will be better next season than it was last season, both from a personnel perspective and a coaching perspective. - Totes McGoats

3 new D hardly the same. - Nighthawk
Yes, they had three new D in the lineup (Schmidt, Rathbone, Hamonic) and results were predictably similar.
Next season they are likely to have several new faces in the lineup. Time will tell if those players are an upgrade. I’m optimistic coaching will improve. |

Schmidt should bounce back.
Resigning Hamonic will be a challenge.
The kids a year older will improve.
Leaves some key additions to add.
Fresh start & new coaching will help.
Team D needs to step up. |

Thx
Many teams in a crunch with a few sitting pretty to take advantage. Gonna be a fun offseason ahead. |

Ya, I did a quick check on 3 organizations, Red Wings, Senators and Devils, they are set up quite nicely to "help out" some teams.
They have lots of capspace and a few protection slots available, if needed. |

You could have had Bobby Orr and Gretz on the team but if a team doesn't hit or battle in front of the net they will suck.

Sens are coming along very nicely.
NJD some nice pieces.
Wings bringing up the rear maybe.
All in all they should squeeze many other GM’s. |

I think Ottawa is going to be a real nice team. They made some nice stride, albeit in a weak division.
Those 3 teams are all looking decent for the future. |

Yeah, I was just saying that the D has been a disaster for a long while, and that last season’s performance wasn’t an outlier.
I also acknowledged that it is likely to improve. |

Hopefully they start playing more of a puck pressure style, or this defense will continue to have issues. |

Bingo!
Can Green evolve and change this team’s attitude towards a more aggressive style? Can Benning supplement the skill with players who can bring some tenacity to the team? It’s a lot of change to ask for in one off season.
Man I will be depressed if they start this coming season with the same defensive group and a bottom six that’s built similar to this past season. |

RHD and no Edler back is the priority. Hamonic back is fine. As far as the bottom 6 with Beagle Sutter and Rousell most likely gone we'll have Highmore Vesey and Boyd. Which is what 975K crowd wants lol. |

It’s funny how you keep drumming this 975k story. I mean our most effective bottom six player has arguably been Motte who barely made more than that. How much did Leivo make?
Maybe that’s the kind of thinking that bemoans the $10 M 4th line. |

I'd rather go hard after Adam Larsson , to pair with QH , his defensive numbers are elite and is no so old that they can't play a few years together - onesmallleap
Plus it would devastate an already sh*t Coilers defence, so yes. |

The return for Virtanen will be zero.

I mean, it’s what Canuck fans do every off season. How many times did we hear OS Cernak last year? |

If there aren't any good trade deals to be had to pry a solid young piece out of a cap-strapped or expansion-strapped team, then Larsson is one guy that I can see/sort of hope they go after. Doubtful he'd sign for what the team could offer, but it'd be nice...
Schmidt - Myers
Hughes - Larsson
Rathbone - Hamonic/cheap vet |
