"The biggest obstacle to my evil plan here is whether Pettersson would want to leave Vancouver for Philadelphia, but it’s not hard to see the reasoning behind why they might."
"It would be difficult to successfully pull this transaction off, but it present no real downside for the Flyers and plenty of opportunity." - RealityChecker

No physical or doctor has put any person on LTIR yet. Ferland COULD pass his physical and be play eligible. Same goes for Beagle. No one is effectively gone until they are deemed gone by professionals. - Codes1087
Very naively wrong. Even cap friendly has Ferland and Beags on LTIR. Rouss can be added after player additions. He can also be waived and bought out. You'd think he'd choose full LTIR salary to rehab. Plus team could tell any of them wait for playoffs get 110% healed up. |

His production went down in the post-season, LH would’ve been correct prior to these playoffs.
Good on TT for stepping up - Nucker101
He was injured. His PPG are the exact same in Montreal as they were while he was in a canuck jersey
This false narrative that he's declining, wasn't good in LA or VAN is so dumb. Numbers don't lie, people are just excusing Benning for letting him go. |

They have them on LTIR for this year cause that's how the year ended... how can capfriendly put them on LTIR for next year when the season hadn't started yet... I don't get how you aren't getting this.. |

25 points in 54 games as a middle 6 player is pretty good In The playoffs so we don’t have to write it off. Most players score less in the playoffs but I’m sure you knew that......
Quick, do Beagle, Sutter and Roussel. |

The Canucks have a shade over 14 million in cap and even if they hypothetically get them at 12, how are they able to go after anyone in free agency without a doctor approval to either play or not play. You can't buy into free agency with money you are banking will go on LTIR without the player actually going on LTIR - Codes1087
Cap friendly for 2021-2022 has $22,323,121 in Canuck Cap space. So you need to adjust to that. This is before proposed cap shuffle moves can be made.
I also recall all the Ferland isn't going to stay on LTIR arguments before. Its been shown by Bolts and other teams how cap management is more fluid then fixed.
Moves can be made this off season. Let's hope they are the right ones and quality targeted players landed. |

He admitted he made the wrong call on JV and Gaudette. After their big seasons they were not keen to give TT term with new flat cap. Their play-off performance was a wash at the time. I too wanted and agree they should have signed TT. Even if it meant buying out playoff popular Sutter or strong arming Benn/LE out. |

Yeah, you’re gonna need more food if you think that any fan that doesn’t agree with a $10 m 4th line is at a picnic.
I like your coping mechanism though. Why question yourself when you can just pretend it’s all about something else. - golfingsince

I can’t believe there are people making an argument that they’d rather have beagle and Roussel than toffoli.
Oh wait, yeah I guess I can. - golfingsince
The argument WAS that the team put together a good competitive bottom 6 PO squad with Beagle Sutter and Rousell dressed and missed the PO's with your faves Motte, Vesey, Highmore and Boyd. Don't twist words man lol. I made it clear before I wanted TT back but also understood why Benning let him walk. There was always going to be a time Where Sutter Beags and Rousell weren't gonna be here and that time is most likely now. Sheesh |

Motte is the only player I mentioned of the 4, so much for twisting words.
The argument against an overpriced 4th line was always that it would prohibit holding on to better talent. Now that it has come to fruition you can go on building a 975k D corps, lol |

You're not getting it though. The LTIR listed only applies to this year. Next season at training camp, players go through physicals and get tested. Ferland, roussel and Beagle COULD all pass and be active roster players. You are banking on them being out, either through LTIR, buyout, etc. You can't bank on any of those things to free up cap space this offseason until they are finalized. |

I get it more then you think. Canucks make off season additions to improve roster. Then use LTIR cap savings to be compliant. What are the chances that these unwanted players, at camp start, get removed from LTIR? Especially when they risk making less $ coming off. |

Totally understand, but the disparity is the spend. The canucks aren't going to spend 40% above the cap, waive 5 players before submitting their opening day roster and be compliant. They don't have the room to make prolific moves, to go "all out" like you are saying. |

The numbers and cap management shuffles proven by other teams says otherwise.
I'm not seeing 40% above Cap but its not actual $ spend. Other then insurance and other savings many contracts were front loaded so spend is below AAV. Also, going with a slim roster has been done by many teams and now more possible with farm team in Abby. |
