Probably will catch a game or two through the year. - VANTEL

It's a nice rink , wide concourse, and great sight lines, just under 8 grand for a hockey game.
Should be a rocking atmosphere |

I was thinking today , as I listened to the radio at work, that not enough credit is going to the coaching moves.
The radio mantra seems to be to beat the D down and keep saying it awful , yet never consider that proper coaching might change how the players are used and the help and development that will come.Edler has been a great D man for us , but noticablely struggled in the Torts year - onesmallleap
The coaching moves have been excellent I don't know how people can rag on next years team if we don't know who is on it .
They can definitely can complain about years past but next year is a new year I even heard Landeskog is on the table lol.

That was Selanne I thought?
Edit: you’re right 1.2 for Kariya and 5.8 for Selanne |

Yeah , pretty much the closest to the NBA model of trying to buy a championship, it was great when they lost.

I don't know if alot of you remember, but the Canucks were a low- mid range budget team, and so in order to compete with the Rangers/ Leafs/Red Wings of the league, the Canucks had scratch and lottery tickets .
A sad time in Canucksvill, all the while with a billionaire owner. |

That's a decent top 6.
The bottom six still looks sus.
And that D is fugly, even with Hamonic resigned.
Turns out our depth sucks

They love the orca, I believe it's a personal love , perhaps their most favorite Canucks watching years, which would explain the reverse retro choice .
Maybe the Messier years were their coming out years - onesmallleap

From the Athletic on a league-wide mock draft for Seattle and who they'd take... it's pretty underwhelming:
Vancouver Canucks
Clark: Madison Bowey is rather important. Adding him does more than give this team depth. It gives this model the financial flexibility for the Kraken to operate as serious players in free agency. Set aside $10 million to re-sign pending RFAs, and it leaves this team with roughly $19 million in cap space ahead of free agency.
Duhatschek: Zack MacEwen. Someone needs to provide a policing presence for the top end of the lineup, which the 6-foot-4, 212 pound MacEwen can do. Remember too – 52 points in 69 games for AHL Utica only a couple of years back.
Luszczyszyn: Zack MacEwen. Really didn’t matter who I picked here as it was unlikely anyone available from Vancouver would actually make the team. MacEwen seems fine, I guess. He didn’t produce at all, but his possession numbers were among the team’s best. |

I think, basically what he’s saying is, that if Seattle takes Bowey it’s like they didn’t even pick a player at all, and they keep cap flexibility.
But in that case, why not select Edler, or one of the other pending UFA’s. Selecting a player that will end up in the minors is still a guy you have to pay. |

I wonder if some of Seattle’s AHL players will end up in Abbotsford this year? Would make sense for them to have guys close by until their AHL team starts the following season.
Plus the Canucks have what, 3 guys for the farm team next year under contract? |

I think it's for the cap flexibility, but also some insurance depth. Ie. they can send him to their farm team and no one would really pick him up. |

I’m not sure how deep Bowey makes your D, but yeah, I guess. Canucks can’t afford to lose him now, should find a way to protect him.

Old news. Next CBA they will fix it. If any big cap players need to go on LTIR in Tampa next season to make it work, the league will be forced to step in. - Retinalz
If they change anything, it should be that teams still need to be compliant to the salary cap in the playoffs - for their active roster. So if Kucherov puts them over the cap he can’t play, until they either remove someone, or put them on injured reserve etc.
I’m sure someone crafty would find a way around it, but just getting to the end of the season shouldn’t absolve teams of following the spirit of the rules. |

Strangely convenient Kucherov was fine in the playoffs. Then a season long rehab. Wonder if an independent medical was ever done? |
