So he’ll sign with Tampa?
- Garnie

Maybe. Hedman will likely be on LOLTIR after his hip surgery. But they'd try to re-sign Coleman and Goodrow first.

I don't give a (frank) what the Leafs have done in the past with young players. I don't care if they blossomed after being traded or flamed out. It's a completely irrelevant and emotional argument.

My reasons for moving on from Marner are pragmatic: his salary is absurdly high compared to his production. He has been underwhelming for 3 straight playoffs. The Leafs core is completely front loaded with 3 players earning 33M.

If the Leafs traded Marner they may not get a player of his pedigree back and I'm completely fine with that. But that doesn't mean the returns for him couldn't be put to excellent use in terms of either futures (picks/prospects) or multiple players who make this club much more difficult to play against.

I think Mitch Marner is a wonderful hockey player and I'd hate to let him go. But it sure as poop isn't "extremely dumb" to consider moving his contract.

You sound like that type of fan who suffers from PTSD because of past trades (Courtnall, Kurvers, et al.). If anyone needs to relax, it's you, bud.

- mjones242

10.8M? no.

9.5M? Yup

He is 1.5M overpaid. Its really a non issue especially when the Leafs have zero bad contracts.

It would be a mistake of the past and I am over that.

Used the Kessel deal as a reference. SJ maybe sends a 3rd back.

But Kapanen=Amirov

1st=1st

Kerfoot=Spaling(Kerfoot probably has a bit more value)

Kessel was retained 1.25M

Umm, you dont need a top tier pitcher right now.
the jays need average bullpen help, thats it.

It would be B level prospects

- Fakepartofme

Jays actually have a shot so take it seriously and bring in some serious help. But you don’t have to (frank) with grade A prospects. Move a good player from a position of strength - someone like Gurriel to really strengthen the bullpen.

You need to show Vlad and Bichette that you’re serious if you want to have any chance of keeping them. How many times can you expect them or your starters to go out and do their things to see games wasted before they just say (frank) it.

Would you be ok with Hyman at 4.5 and Foligno at 3?
- gergeswillems

To high for both.

Hyman deserves that but leafs can’t afford him for that. He’s also coming off a leg/knee injury heading into the back half of his career. Could be another David clarkson type player.

Foligno I would do about 2-2.5m same thing getting older and leafs just can’t afford that.

Kerfoot is a 3C.

2 firsts is the price you pay for a top 6 forward with term

PPG player last year, plays nasty and adds a new element to the PP.

Hyman maybe depending on the length. Foligno I’d really want to know how hurt he was in the playoffs cause he sure didn’t show me anything.
- Canada Cup

Keefe said he was far from healthy. Plus he missed a couple playoff games so I’m going to go ahead and say he was pretty banged up.

first the jays have control of Vlad for 4 more seasons. they can sign him like the Padres did with Tatis..or drag it out each year until his ufa 2026 when he is 27.

also, Vlad didnt help matters last night by getting thrown out on 3rd in the 9th.

I'd try anything with a new player.

Think Kane would elevate all their games.

As much as Kadri was an idiot they miss a confident annoying (frank) that's still a good player.

Like that one beer league teammate that starts poop every game...We all say we hate the guy but we love him for making the game interesting.

Exactly

A late first which is usually a B+ prospect.

The hope is Muzzin carries a partner.

And with a little bit of cap space they can add up space to add a d come deadline since its a huge UFA d class.

And Kane isnt the Kane in Winnipeg anymore...he may be a cocky female dog but think the leafs could use that presence.
