He hasn't scored a goal in 18 straight playoff games. I think that's not the kind of production Dubas was envisioning when he signed him. - mjones242

Over the last 3 playoff series (19 games, or the last time 10.9 Mitch scored):
Marner: 2 goals - 12 points
Nylander: 8 goals - 15 points
Matthews: 8 goals - 17 points
Pretty clear who the problem child is… |

Are points the most important thing though?
I mean Wendel Clark was not a point per game player, and I challenge you to find a Leafs that doesn't love Wendel Clark - PatC80
Umm Wendel had several 40 plus pt seasons, plus a 60 and 70 pointer.
Josh is .43 ppg
Wendel was .711 ppg |

What about the 0 goals in 18 playoff games? - Steven_Seagull
I guess Edmonton should punt McDavid if that’s what we’re going by now.
And every year when a team puts their focus on shutting down MacKinnon the Avs are history.
Without players like Marner you don’t even make the playoffs. I’m not his biggest fan but I think you lose every deal you make if he’s in it. |

What if you remove the season where he played injured all year in Columbus?

Not his fault the rest of the team sucks. |

He has 17 points in his last 17 playoff games.
11 in his last 11.
I dunno. He went through a bit of a dry spell against Montreal but he's been pretty consistently dangerous. |

My point is, that guys like Josh Anderson would be cheered here, just look at Zach Hyman as a more recent example |

Matthews only had one really bad playoff when he went head to head against Patrice Bergeron. Bergeron just shut him down.. Against the Capitals, he had 4 goals in 6 games and since that series against Boston, he's been really good.
Matthews is not the problem, Nylander is not the problem, Tavares is not the problem. We can't blame him for the injury.

He had 1 goal and was a minus 2 this year. In leafland that will get you run out of town. |

36 goal pace over 82.
I think that's pretty damn good. He was snakebitten hard this year and played two awful games to close out the series, but I never felt he was the problem.
I'm not excusing AM34 completely for this lack of performance this year, but there is clearly no comparison between him and Mitch. |

Nylander at 7mil is certainly a problem.. you need balance, Nylander doesn’t have a well rounded enough game to make that much. Maybe on a team that desperately needs scoring. |

If Marner was making a reasonable salary I don't think there would be quite as much angst.
If Marner had scored more than 0 goals in his last 18 post-season games I don't think there would be as much angst.
There's angst and it's justified. |

If Zach were to stay as a Leaf for $5.5M, I think there would be a lot more happier people than you think. I don't think the Leafs could afford him, but he's worth it, IMO..
The issue with Anderson is the term, not the money |
