Of course it does.

Kessel brought the Leafs a 1st which they used for Andersen and Kapanen which was a fantastic player for them that eventually turned into another 1st, Hallinder and a top prospect.

So yes moving Kane would help them. Moving Kessel is still helping the Leafs 6 years later.

You move Kane for a better future.

- Santo_44

Actually the kessel trade is still hurting the leafs years later.
Still paying 1.2 m every year...which the leafs desperately need.

Kerfoot+Robertson+2022 2nd for Kane (2M retained)

Maybe?

- Steven_Seagull

Leafs have to keep Robertson.
40m in 4 forwards....they are going to need cheap scoring.
If Robertson turns into an NHL player that can score

I don't care. Coaches and teammates have said he has grown up a lot and the deal he got proves it.

I am sure he gets a kick out of a guy on HB still fuming over an instagram picture he posted years ago.

- Santo_44

And declaring bankruptcy the same year he signs a multiillion$$ deal is no cause for concern? No distraction...lol

the Sharks will just trade Kane, Karlsson, Couture, Vlasic, Burns and Martin Jones and simply retain salary on all of them

I’ll take the 1.2M. The Kapanen piece of the trade just brought us Amriov and Halinder

Gave us 2 really strong years of goaltending

Oh boy.

Yeah just sit with the roster they have, no prospect pool to save them.

Jesus if that team were the Leafs we’d be trading Kane every day on here for prospects and picks.

Trading Kane gives them the best return on prospects and picks.

Hertl is a good rental TDL trade option.

They could get creative and deal Burns to the Kraken basically just to remove his cap hit.

Once they gain some cap space they can weaponize it and take on short term bad contracts for picks and prospects.

SJ needs a rebuild, probably more than any team right now.

I’d keep Robertson over Amirov due to him being closer.

But yes they have some prospect capital that they can trade to improve the team today.

I didn’t say anything

“After signing his ELC in April, he’s going to return to Ufa next season on loan. My understanding is there will be far more communication between the Leafs development staff and the Ufa coaching staff in terms of Amirov’s developmental needs.

He’s currently in Toronto and will spend a few weeks working with the Leafs development staff to improve his 200-foot game and learn more about the Leafs’ style of play.”

Per the Athletic

He won’t even be in North America this year. So yes Robertson is ahead of him obviously.

I’m not sure.

But he will be given a full opportunity to be, can’t say the same for Amirov.

Absolutely, I think he would have been ready this year if not for his injury

The Sharks will likely protect 4 F, 4 D and 1 G, so they will expose a forward to Seattle

Who says?

The option is there to expose Burns.

None of us know the market on Burns so it’s hard to say. Going to have to wait until the lists to come out on that one.

There are some rumblings that Leafs management thinks he needs another year in the AHL. He wasn’t exactly dominant, to be fair he is just 19. A full year in the AHL, hopefully without any injuries, wouldn’t hurt him.

He will be given a legitimate shot in the NHL though.

Depends on how his summer goes.
