I think there is a difference between being a young player and experienced player. TK and Provy have enough experience where to me, that young excuse doesn't work. But I'm sure we will have differing opinions on this. Regardless if we think everyone bounces back and has a good year, i still think changes need to be made, our players don't compliment each other enough, and still need to be harder to play against. - bradster
Provorov has basically been cast in the role of the Flyers top defenseman, since he came into the league at 19. There is no doubt in my mind, that if he could've started in a lesser role, while the team relied on more experienced defenseman to play that role of the top defenseman, Provorov would be a better player today. No doubt in my mind about that. Provorov is a really good player but not a player who should've been made a #1 defensman at 19/20 years of age.

I’ll agree tk and provy have some experience. And generally they are more consistent. But even those 2 show youthful mistakes. Generally speaking within a couple years tk and provy shouldn’t show those type youthful mistake. Not saying they’ll be perfect. The point was more geared toward with such a youthful team at key positions 3 in top 4 d the goalie 2 in top 6 f almost certainly there’s gonna be a handful of youthful mistakes a game. IMO a true 1d and true 1c helps slot those players better and shifts the in game key situations away from the youthful players some. For example people are assessing Myers and sanheim based solely on their progression last year or 2. IMO it’s skewed because you put those players on a team with a true top 3 d deep team and almost certainly the mistake they are making are severely cut done. And they’d look much better and allow them to grow until they ideally pushed for more ice time and situational play |

Provorov struggled last season just like pretty much every other player. The experience didn't help him avoid that. If he had been developed differently, he would be a more advanced player now and better equipped to handle the situation of last season in my opinion.

He wouldnt have made the mistakes last year if he had more help 4 years ago??
Ummmm ok.
Would Ekblad be better now if he didn't play right away after he was drafted? Its impossible to tell because it never happend. Its speculation, and opinion only. There is no proof, just opinions on matters like that

Who said anything about not playing? This doesn't comment on the opinion I offered. We all know it's opinion and speculation.

Gotta agree with mjl here. There’s a difference between an ekblad 1st overall and provy in talent to begin with. Provy is a good dman. There’s no debate there. But he’s not a 1A he’s more a1B. It was definitely not fair to put the top dman responsibility on him so young. |
